It is always a delight to watch a new on-screen pair in Bollywood. Sometimes, their chemistry is so sizzling that it takes an average story and turns it into a smashing hit. And when a movie is being directed by the industry’s sweetheart Zoya Akhtar, you know you’re in for a big treat. Zoya Akhtar is known to make thought-provoking movies, one of which–Gully Boy–was actually nominated for The Academy Awards last year.
According to a popular daily, Zoya is all set to make a Bollywood version of a Hollywood thriller movie The Departed. Ranveer and Katrina will be paired opposite each other in this romantic thriller. Zoya, after giving out multiple hits like Gully Boy and Dil Dhadakne Do, both with the lead as Ranveer Singh, will now venture into a completely new genre.
Ranveer and Katrina have spoken about working together in the past on a few projects but it has unfortunately not worked out. Ranveer will be playing the role of Leonardo Di Caprio in the movie and has apparently said yes to the role immediately after reading the script. Katrina too has said yes to this action-packed role.
Even though Ranveer and Katrina have never worked together, they have always been seen having a good laugh when they meet publically. We’re pretty sure Zoya saw a charm there to have cast them together in her next production.
The pair was in the process of locking the dates but the lockdown has reportedly delayed the plans. They will also be seen working together in a Rohit Shetty film which will be a sequel to the Singham franchise but this is the first time that they will be seen as a couple in a movie together.
Ranveer was last seen in Gully Boy which was again, directed by Zoya Akhtar. Whereas for Katrina, Zoya last worked with her in Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara. It will be a delight to see these two pair up together for the first time. Zoya has apparently been granted the rights from the team of The Departed and will start shooting once the lockdown is over.
