Breaking (Out) Bad: Why Those Pesky Pimples Are Having A Gala Time On Your Forehead

Breaking (Out) Bad: Why Those Pesky Pimples Are Having A Gala Time On Your Forehead

Acne is a pain in the *wherever it appears*. Not only does it appear on our bodies as annoying tenants, but they also always leave their mark behind. One of the most frustrating things about acne is not knowing what’s causing them. You may experiment with every new boujee product that claims to fix everything, and still end up with a worse situation than before.

Acne usually happens due to two umbrella factors–internal and external. Internal factors could be a poor diet, hormonal changes, or a new medicine not suiting you. External factors can be pollution or a reaction to a product you recently tried. And if your skin is as clear as the Yamuna these days, how does it feel to be God’s favourite? 😒

Acne can happen anywhere–cheeks, back, chin, forehead and even your chest. If your forehead is presently overcrowded with painful acne, here’s what may be causing it.

Reasons Your Forehead May Resemble A Rice Krispie

If you’re wondering why your forehead is a playground for pimples these days, let me assure you that you’re not alone. Acne happens to everyone, even celebs. It’s nothing to feel ashamed of.

Just don’t keep popping them like bubble wrap!

Dandruff

Did you impulsively cut your bangs during quarantine and suddenly got new visitors on your forehead? Then there’s a 100% chance that it’s because of a flaky situation on your scalp. Dandruff is primarily one of the main reasons why we get acne on our forehead. The flaky skin clogs up the pores and results in a painful outcome. Having oily skin just makes it worse.

What to do:

– Keep your hair tied as much as possible or use a headband to keep it away from your forehead

– Wash your face 3-5 times a day, followed by an oil-free moisturizer.

– Use toner, exfoliating peels, face masks, cleansers to keep the area as clean as possible.

– Mix 1 tbsp. of lemon juice with 2 tbsps. of water and dab it gently on the area using a cotton bud.

Allergic Reaction

Another reason why you might have been visited by the wrath of pimples may be due to a new product you recently tried. Just because it is expensive AF or your fave beauty blogger swears by it, that doesn’t mean it’ll work for you too.

What to do:

– Did you recently try a new product? If yes, time to toss it away.

– Wash your face twice with a mild cleanser.

– Use fresh aloe gel to show acne who’s boss.

Dirty, Dirty Things

Using a dirty towel, touching your forehead constantly or even a dirty phone’s screen can cause acne to flare up massively.

What to do:

– Keep your hands clean and avoid touching your face as much as possible.

– Do not go all *pimple-popping* on your face. The secretion will let to more breakouts, making the situation go out of control.

– Keep a mild cleanser handy. Use it on your forehead every 2-3 hours to kill bacteria formation.

Expired Products

Being a girl is expensive, we know! And just because you spent a BOMB on a particular product, doesn’t mean that you can use it after it has crossed its expiry date.

What to do:

– Simple, toss it away and vow to never use an expired product again.

– Apply a cooling face pack to reduce the inflammation.

Stress

You get acne, you get stressed; You get stressed, you will get acne–probably the worst vicious cycle, if there was one!

Stress is a common denominator when it comes to an unexpected breakout.

What to do:

– Find out what’s stressing you out and dump him!

– Use essential oils to create a spa-like atmosphere and just chill. Close your eyes, imagine you’re sipping wine with G-Eazy on a romantic getaway and let all your problems go to hell.

Dear acne, unless you’re planning to pay me for your time on my fabulous skin, please do not ever come back.
