The lockdown is no excuse for neglecting your hair. Sure, you've got nowhere to go and no one to meet, but, you HAVE to have some personal hygiene habits in place. Like continuing to wash your locks twice a week! If you're not doing this, expect your hair to come out of this lockdown looking shabby, dull and dry. While it's understandable that during these trying times you may not be able to get your favourite brand of hair shampoo or serum, but you know what? You can make them using basic ingredients you have lying around in your home.
Homemade shampoos are easy to make and so are serums. In my opinion, hair serum is one of the most underrated haircare products in the market. It's responsible for making your hair smooth, shiny and oh-so-strong. For it to work its magic, you need to apply it on damp hair. Another reason to love homemade serum is that it's free from chemicals and will you save you some moolah too *wink*
Let's quickly learn how to make one from scratch!
Before we share the recipe with you, you must learn more about these ingredients. First things first, almond oil strengthens hair and heals dry roots, itchy scalp and split ends. Packed with emollient properties, almond oil also keeps your hair soft and smooth. Castor oil, on the other hand, moisturises the scalp and promotes hair growth. Essentials oils for that subtle, fresh scent and rose water to naturally reduce dandruff and frizziness. Here's how to make a hair serum using all these lovely ingredients.
Step 1: In a bowl, add 2 tbsp of almond oil and 1 tbsp of castor oil.
Step 2: Pour 5-6 drops of rosewater into the mix.
Step 3: Now, add 8-10 drops of lavender essential oil.
Step 4: Stir the mix with a toothpick.
Step 5: Pour all the ingredients into a spray bottle and keep it in the fridge for a day.
Step 6: Spray on your ends when they're damp.
Didn't I say this was easy-peasy? If you have all the ingredients in place, the preparation time is just 10 minutes. This hair serum can be used on your hair and your scalp!
