Moisturiser, Soap & 4 Other Skincare Products You Can Make At Home!

Ever since the pandemic Coronavirus started affecting people globally, we’ve been practising #SocialDistancing and staying indoors. Stocking up on food, pharmaceutical & medical supplies, and other important items became our priority. While some of the shops are open for some time during the day but most of the things we want (and not need) are out of stock.

Don’t you just miss shopping online or walking down the Sephora aisle for your makeup and skincare needs? I know you do. But since it’s not possible in the future anytime soon, we might find ourselves panicking as we hit the bottom of our fave moisturizers or night creams. But don’t worry as you can make a few amazing skincare products, at home!

Make Your Own Skin Products At Home

Let’s us pray that this nightmare is over soon and everyone who is currently affected get well soon!🙏

Under Eye Gel

Depuff and brighten those bags under your eyes with a cooling DIY eye gel.

You’ll need:

– 5 vitamin E capsules

– Freshly plucked aloe vera leaf

– A small, empty container

In an empty container, add a spoonful of fresh aloe vera gel and the contents from the vitamin E capsule. Mix well and keep in it the fridge for 5-10 minutes for it to cool. Once cooled, apply the mixture under your eyes to depuff and hydrate. Do this at night.

Lip Scrub

Dead skin on your lips? We’ve got a quick fix!

You’ll need:

– 1 tbsp. of granulated sugar (brown sugar is preferable)

– 1 tbsp shea butter (optional)

– 1 tbsp of honey/ olive oil

– 2-3 drops of essential oil (optional)

– An empty container

In an empty container, add all the ingredients and mix well. Use your finger to scoop out your homemade lip scrub and apply it on your dry lips to remove dead skin effectively.

Rosewater

Pretty easy, right? You can also use it as a toner or a facial spray to just to freshen up after that heavy lunch you’ve just had! 

Moisturizer

You can whip out a super hydrating facial moisturizer at home using just a few basic ingredients.

You’ll need:

– 5-6 tbsp. of shea butter

– 3 tbsp. of coconut oil

– 2 drops of essential oil (you can pick any according to your skin type)

– A big container

Firstly, boil your clumps of hardened shea butter in a boiler till it’s completely free of clumps and let it aside to cool down. Once it’s cooled down, add all the ingredients into the container and your moisturizer. You can use this on your face and body!

Deep Conditioning Hair Mask

Can you believe how easy it was? Just add a spoonful of argan oil in your conditioner and apply the mask for 30 mins before taking a shower.

Soap Bars

Missing using fancy soaps? Don’t worry, hum hain na!

You’ll need:

– Soap bars (or a melt-and-pour soap base)

– Essential oils

– Food colour

– Cute moulds (if you don’t have cupcake moulds, you can even use plastic containers.)

– Dried up rose petals

Using a microwave container, melt all your soaps and keep mixing until everything is at a liquid consistency. Pour your liquid soap into the moulds to create fun shapes. Add the essential oils of your choice. We say, add a different one in each mould to have different fragrances. Add dried up rose petals, orange peels or even cosmetic glitter chunks, or mica (if you have any) to make your soaps look pretty.

Optional ingredients that you can add to your soaps:

– 1/4 tsp Charcoal powder (for oily, acne-prone skin)

– 1/4 tsp Multani mitti (for all skin types)

– 1/2 tsp walnut shell powder (to make a scrub soap)
