I am the kind of person who believes that the internet is one of the biggest resources we all have. The new age (including myself) calls it 'Googling'. From figuring out the symptoms of an ailment to asking basic questions like 'how to get over a break up', I feel that the internet has the power to answer it all. But if you come to think about it, the world wide web is actually you and me. We contribute to all the information available online! While I am no expert, I still want to help out some of our loyal readers and try to solve their problems. I spend a lot of time on the POPxo app and I have picked 10 questions that I want to answer today.
Question: My boyfriend is moving out of the country and if things go well, he wants me to move with him. I don’t think I want to go to Australia because I have been looking at Canada for further studies. I don’t want to feel dependent on him when I move to Australia. What should I do? Boyfriend or career?
Answer: There's no easy way to put this but Lady Gaga once said that a woman should follow her career because your career (unlike a guy), won't wake up one fine day and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore. I suggest that you do what you like to save your boyfriend from the pressure of making you do something that you're unwilling to do. Try talking to your boyfriend about this because no one should have to do anything they don't like.
Question: My husband puts a lot of restrictions on me. It has only been 10 months of our marriage and I am very stressed every day. What should I do?
Answer: Oh! No. I am very sorry. You are an adult and should be able to live your life the way you want. No one should put restrictions on you. Not even your husband. However, know that the first year of marriage is a bit tough for some couples. Lack of communication is often the reason. You tend to misunderstand each other through this journey as you are just getting to know each other. Why don't you talk to him about your problems? Tell him exactly how you feel? Maybe that will help.
Question: I had sex on the first day of my period. Are there any chances of pregnancy? Please help!
The chances of you getting pregnant are bleak. An average female’s monthly cycle is almost 28 days but varies from 20 to 40 in some. While chances of this happening to you are slim, the likelihood starts to increase with each day. While these numbers depend from woman to woman, no one can be 100 per cent sure of no pregnancy. Please be sure to wear a condom the next time you have sex. It’s not just unplanned pregnancy that you have to worry about but so many other risks like STD or unwanted infections that you may subject your body to.
Question: I want to move on but I am stuck on my ex. I block him on all social media platforms but end up unblocking him every now and then. What should I do? I am very hurt and miserable and I think I might land up getting depressed. Please please help me?
Answer: It's not easy to get over someone you love. I had the hardest time getting over my first relationship. But you need to know that you will get over them. It's going to take some time but it will happen. Till then, cut all contact with him because out of sight is out of mind... and that really helps when you're trying to get over a breakup!
Question: I have recently started to develop feelings for my guy friend. We have kissed once but I know he likes someone else. You think I should tell him or should I just move on?
Answer: Since the two of you have already kissed each other, I am pretty sure you're aware of each other's feelings. However, if he's your friend, maybe you should just tell him what you feel. He just likes someone else. There's nothing there yet, right? Might as well give it a fair shot, right?
Question: My boyfriend of 3 years hides things from me. He deletes chats and tells me that he does not want to see me hurt. I am confused. I know he flirts with women behind my back. What should I do?
Answer: Sorry, but this is not okay. If he has been dating you for over three years, there is no reason for him to hide things from you. Honesty is the best policy, especially in a relationship. The onus is on him to make you feel comfortable and secure. We suggest you have a one on one conversation with him and tell him what you feel once and for all.
Question: How can I tell my parents that I am dating someone?
Answer: This can be a bit tricky but it's not difficult. Just sit them down and confess it to them in the most practical way possible. If they still need some convincing, talk about the pros and cons of your relationship. This will show them that you've really thought things through and you know what you are doing. And after all, they are your parents and will understand if you tell them what it really means to you.
Question: What is the ideal age to plan for kids? I am 31 and have just moved to a new country. We both need a few more years to plan and save before we have a kid in our life. Is it okay to hold on?
Answer: Ideally, a woman’s body is suited to having babies in their late 20s but I know a lot of women who stretch it to their early 30s. However, we believe that having a baby s a very personal choice and you should give in to it when you’re completely ready. A lot of things will change in your life and having a child is a huge responsibility. Which is why you should be 100 per cent ready and prepared before you take this big step!
Question: My first anniversary is around the corner and I am very excited. We cannot go somewhere far and my husband hates flowers. How can I make it memorable for him?
Answer: First of all, congratulations! You can spend the day doing all the things that you both love doing together. Like watching a movie, going for a date to the place you guys first met at etc. Surprises and gifts don't have to be materialistic. You can use experiences to make memories that will last a lifetime. You can also try making some DIY gifts for your husband.
Question: I have recently met a guy on a matrimonial website and I really like him. But how do I find out whether he likes me or not? I don’t want to directly ask him. Please help?
Answer: If you guys are still talking and meeting, we're pretty sure that he likes you back. However, try talking to him for a little longer and take hints as they come.
