It's that time of the year when your spirits are high, new year’s resolutions are still being followed and you’ve vowed to make better choices. That’s peachy and we’re rooting for you but for beauty enthusiasts (like me) it’s a tad bit overwhelming. Every year, from November all the way up until January, every brand brings its A-game to the table. Beauty aisles are flooded with new launches, discounts, holiday gift sets, limited editions all wrapped up in the prettiest packages. We get it, it’s all VERY hard to resist and is indeed a very difficult time to make good decisions. If your new year’s resolution was to declutter and Marie Kondo your beauty shelf, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s probably one you won’t hold up, at least not this month.
These new launches aren’t just limited to a new lipstick or a shiny new highlighter. I’m talking about new brands, new formulations and new technologies in the beauty industry. And in all honesty, new debts for our credit cards. Here’s a sneak peek of everything coming to a store or a website near you in 2020!
Paula Begoun was the creator and mastermind behind Beautypedia - every beauty junkie’s one-stop beauty review website. She’s authored 20 beauty books and is quite the kind of power woman we look up to. Building on her experience as an expert in the field of beauty, Paula went on to formulate her own brand, Paula’s Choice that launched in 1995. The cult-favourite beauty brand is finally available in India and as a fellow skincare enthusiast, I couldn’t be happier. Paula’s Choice has a wide range of skincare products with clean, minimal ingredients to address all your burning beauty concerns.
Large pores might be our enemy but they are also genetic, often even caused by a hormonal imbalance or our erratic lifestyles. While there isn’t much you can do to reduce the size of your pores, keeping them matte and oil-free is a great way to minimize their appearance. One such powder that does the perfect job is Innisfree’s new Pore Blur Powder. The mesh-dispenser packaging makes it easy to use and travel with while minimizing wastage. Dunk your powder brush into the mesh and swirl it around any problem areas to mattify your skin.
Available at all Innisfree stores.
Another new product that packs a punch for anybody with oily, acne-prone skin is Indulgeo’s new pore minimizing face pack. Made with the 4 powerful oil-absorbing ingredients, the face pack uses Australian Pink clay, Kaolin clay, Zeolite clay & Bentonite clay. This oil-absorbing, exfoliating face pack also helps minimise blackheads, hormonal breakouts and congestion, making it perfect for those with aggravated or acne-prone skin. When you wash this face pack off, be prepared for seriously soft, glowing skin and pores that squeaky clean and happy!
Launching on January 15th, stay tuned!

Their new line of body washes are soap-free, sulphate-free, paraben-free and deeply moisturising, moreover, they use natural ingredients like tea tree, honey, oatmeal and coconut.
A well-kept secret, that only a few fragrance connoisseurs know about Jo Malone is that all their fragrances are designed to be layered together to form your own signature scent. The new cologne is an earthy, warm fragrance full of heart. With notes of cardamom, grapefruit tea vetiver and vanilla, you can find solace in this warm, sensual perfume in winter.
Available from January 2020 at Jo Malone London boutiques in Mumbai and New Delhi & a 50ml bottle is priced at INR 8,000
Looking for a lipstick that touts the ultimate trifecta: transfer-proof, waterproof, and kiss-proof? Etude House has 7 gorgeous new lip tints that give you the best of K-beauty in formulas that won’t disappoint. Moisturising gloss or matte lip stains, look no further.
Smashbox’s new foundation bridges the gap between beauty and skincare. Using hero ingredients like hyaluronic acid, kaolin clay and vitamin E, the Studio Skin foundation is ideal for every skin type. Delivering just the right amount of hydration with the hyaluronic acid and keeping the skin oil-free with kaolin clay, if you’re looking for a skin-like base product that won’t clog your pores - this is it. A little goes a long way and if you’re expecting full coverage, you won’t be disappointed. It’s available in over 40 shades.
The Body Shop is a brand that is consistently focused on sustainability and fair trade. What makes it better is that they are cruelty-free, against animal testing and very transparent about their endeavours to give back to the community and the environment. As a consumer and a loyal skincare enthusiast, it makes me very happy to know that the money spent on the brand is being put to good use. One whiff of their new Vanilla Pumpkin Range will fill you up with joy and warmth on the chilliest winter day.
A classic example of beauty meets technology and innovation. Clinique’s new formula isn’t meant for the beauty rookie. The anti-ageing duo has two potent skincare formulas, built into one jar and promises to deliver focused skincare benefits to the target area. What an ingenious approach to skincare! One half of the product helps resculpt key areas like the neck, jowls, jawline and the other re-plumps areas of volume loss like your peri-orbital bone, lines & wrinkles, nasolabial folds and forehead.
Kiko Milano takes limited edition packaging very seriously, it certainly is a brand you want to splurge on if you want your makeup to look as pretty as it makes you feel. To ring in the new year, the brand just dropped a shiny new range of products under a range called the Magical Holiday Collection. The packaging is gold red and a lot of glitters. Ah, how luxe, but you had me at gold and glitter!
Available at all KIKO Milano stores in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore
Turning 31 this month, shut up and take my money is all I’d like to say.
