Bollywood Actors Who Broke Their ‘No Kissing On-Screen’ Policy For A Film

No Bollywood movie is complete without masala, agreed? So, if there’s a movie that has mystery, drama, romance and a lot of hot steamy sex, expect the cinema halls to be packed at all times. Speaking of packed halls, one usually looks for three things in a movie–entertainment, entertainment, entertainment. And as long as there’s some juicy controversy surrounding it, the movie’s entertaining already. Sometimes, even before its release.

Now, this controversy can be anything. From an ex-celebrity couple working together to literally any two people in the narrative doing an intimate scene, all it takes to get the stakes high is one little smooch in the trailer. But some actors do not approve of kissing their co-actors in their contract. As a matter of fact, there have been several cases where celebrities have refused to lock lips with their co-stars on-screen.

However, nowadays, pretty much every Bollywood film has at least one kiss in it, whether it’s a romantic-comedy or an action movie. Actors, too, are committed to the role enough to break their ‘no kissing on-screen’ policy if the script demands it. Want to know who all broke it for the greater good? Here you go!

You must be wondering why Bebo? She has locked lips with a lot of her co-stars including Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan to name a few. But after getting married to Saif in 2012, Kareena introduced a new no-kissing clause in her contract. However, come 2016, she broke it by kissing Arjun Kapoor in Ki & Ka.

Shah Rukh Khan

The title of ‘King of Romance’ in Bollywood definitely goes to Shah Rukh Khan. Despite portraying a heartthrob over the years and doing a LOT of romantic scenes on-screen, King Khan has always refrained from locking lips. Until Jab Tak Hai Jaan in 2012 where he kissed Katrina Kaif (that too multiple times!). Come to think of it, we can’t recall SRK’s on-screen kisses. Did you realise this about him before?

Ajay Devgn

The Golmaal actor surprised everyone when he broke his 25-year-old no kissing on-screen policy by locking lips with Erika Kaar in his directional venture Shivaay. When asked, Ajay said that there was never a written clause, he just never wished to kiss his co-stars and only kissed Erika because the film demanded it. So, he decided to just go with the flow.

Shahid Kapoor

Rumour has it that Shahid Kapoor vowed to never kiss anyone on-screen after getting married to Mira Rajput in 2015. But his passionate kiss in Rangoon with Kangana Ranaut put all speculations to rest. Not to mention the hundreds of kisses he exchanged with Kiara Advani in Kabir Singh

Saif Ali Khan

Just like Bebo, Saif too added a new ‘no kissing on-screen’ policy post their marriage. Looks like Saif couldn’t keep the end of his promise when he, too, locked lips with Kangana in Rangoon.

India’s blue-eyed beauty refused to smooch since the beginning of her career until she played a total badass babe in the 2006 hit film Dhoom 2. When she locked lips with Hrithik Roshan, my heart was racing faster than his bike in the movie. Later, she also went on to kiss Ranbir Kapoor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Ali Zafar

Did you know Ali Zafar was so not on-board with the idea of smooching on-screen that a body double was hired for his kiss with Aditi Rao Hydari in London Paris New York? Talk about commitment! But even he broke his policy when he kissed Alia Bhatt in Dear Zindagi.
