8 Tiny Changes You Can Make In Your Life To Turn It Around

Growing up there was one thing that my mum always told me: Change is the only constant in life and you have to embrace it. In fact, I realised in the process that it is really the only thing that keeps you going. You are not evolving if you’re not changing. Sometimes, things get a little difficult and when they do, you realise that you’re probably not doing enough. Especially for yourself. You are important which is why you need to embrace changes even if they scare you. So, if you’re not sure which of those changes will help you, we have made a list that might make it a tad easier. Read on to know what we’re talking about!

1. Make time for yourself

Solitude is your soul’s holiday. Taking some me-time out, honestly, it makes a world of difference. You get time to know what you really want and understand yourself better. No matter how busy you are, take some time to enjoy solitude. You will notice a starking difference.

2. Don’t let other people’s opinion bother you

‘Kuch toh log kahenge, logo ka kaam hai kehna’. Rajesh Khanna said this decades ago and almost 30 years later, these are words that still resonate in our mind. People will always have something to say and not caring about everything people say is that one habit you need to develop.

We derive inspiration from Minus One’s Riya and Varun. Despite multiple judgements from their friends and society, they decided to finally do what they wanted to. They’re two exes living together and they deserve to be heard because they did what they felt was right. Binge-watch all six episodes here.

3. Learn from your own mistakes

The important lessons in life come from making mistakes. They help you grow and make you a better person is given that you learn from them. Mistakes are very essential for change in life. You will always develop better judgement going further once you decide to learn from your screw-ups and not repeat them.

4. Don’t over commit

Sometimes we don’t realise the amount of pressure we add in our life by making promises to ourselves that we cannot keep. It’s okay to not be able to handle everything at once. It’s okay to take the time to do things. It’s okay to go one task at a time. Don’t promise yourself (or others) things that you cannot do. Commit to only those things that are possible in life. It’s okay to not be a multi-tasker.

5. Never compare yourself to others

Do you know what’s the worst thing you can do to yourself? Telling yourself that you’re not good enough. You are the best version of you and there is nothing better. Tell yourself that every day. Only you can pull yourself down and then pull yourself up again. Do that, sis.

6. Read, like a lot!

Knowledge is power and when you know things, you’re invincible. There is so much to learn out there and there is always very little time. So, if you don’t have a habit of reading, develop one. It is definitely the most powerful thing in the world.

7. Take a break

Working or thinking tirelessly causes exhaustion and stress in life. You want to steer clear of anything that gives you that feeling. Pausing the chaos for some time not only makes you productive but also refreshes your mind to think beyond the normal. Trust me, guys. This is tried and tested.

8. Love yourself

Because while people come and go out of your life, you stay with yourself. That is one thing that no one can take away from you. Once you accept and love yourself, you can actually focus on what you have and how you should make the most of it. Self-love is indisputable and necessary because, without that, you will never be able to do what you should be doing.
