Getting Attached After Sex Is Real And Here's Why It Happens

Have you ever been in a situation where you've had sex a couple of times with a person and started developing feelings for them for no apparent reason? Yeah, we've all been there. Sometimes people even start dating their partners because they feel some sense of attachment after they've had intercourse. And it's not because their skills in bed are so mind-blowing.

If you feel the same way after you have had sex, don't worry because it's a real thing. Sex and attachment does go hand in hand, guys.

Today, we're going to break it down and understand why this happens at all.

There's An Actual Love Drug

The love hormone, oxytocin is almost as powerful as the love drug is addictive. If you're getting attached every time you're sleeping with someone new even though you didn't truly like before, then it's probably the oxytocin that's making decisions. It's released during sex and floods your body after which is what makes you want to cuddle and connect with the person in your bed. It's a feel-good hormone that makes you feel loving and also helps you bond.

Women have oxytocin in abundance, which is why women are more likely to catch feelings after sex as compared to men.

Some Parts Of Your Brain Actually Shuts Down During An Ohhh-rgasm

When you say that you've had a mind-blowing orgasm, you actually may not be far from what actually happened. Your lateral orbitofrontal cortex actually shuts down during an orgasm and this is the part that controls your voice of reason. So if you feel foggy, confused and unsteady after a particularly strong orgasm, it's probably this.

Love Addiction Is Real

Are you one of those people who jumps from one relationship to another or keeps taking back an ex who isn't great for you? Well, you could be addicted to love. Yup, that's a thing. Oxytocin dependency is very real and many people thrive off of this hormone. When oxytocin is released our rewards part of the brain lights up which makes us feel euphoric. This is the same part of the brain that lights up when heroin is taken. So, it's almost like an actual addiction.

If you have been asking yourself why you get attached after having sex with someone then this is the reason. It could actually be a neurochemical thing and your mind could be playing tricks on you. The mind and these hormones are strong so it's better to be in control of them and understand them fully before they start controlling your life.

So, ditch him if he's a toxic ex, leave those friends with benefits and get into a relationship with someone you truly love. ❤
