A great place for people to watch plays, indulge in deep conversations and enjoy long chai breaks. Founded in 1942, Shashi Kapoor and his wife Jennifer Kapoor, built this theatre in memory of Shashi’s father, Prithviraj Kapoor. Meant for people of all age groups, this place is always packed with people from all walks of life. The ambience is aesthetic and the costs are pretty reasonable too! Also, you must try their Suleimani chai! It’s a mix of lemon, tulsi, tea and mint leaves. Sounds yum, right?

Chai Pe Charcha

This is one the best places to have Adrak Ki Chai! Just thinking of it makes our mouths water. The strong flavour of ginger makes one feel alert and refreshed. The boy who works at this tea stall is Ashok Patil. He lost his father during the 1992-1993 Mumbai riots. The 20-year-old sells tea to support his family and fund his education. We highly recommend that you try his masala tea! It’s amazeballs. He’s also one of the most familiar faces at the Mumbai Marathon. He never fails to participate every year!

Jagatram Cycle Tea Vendor

If you’re ever strolling around at night around Matunga Circle, make sure you keep an eye out for a man named Jagatram. He’s a cycle tea vendor who serves tea only at night. If you do bump into him, order his ‘Special Instant Chai’. It’s made from fresh tea leaves, sugar, milk and spices. The man has two sons, and he supports them and their education with his tea business. Hats off to this strong father!
