7 Times Bollywood Celebrities Rejected A Film Because They Didn’t Like Their Co-Star

Personal relationships in Bollywood are as unpredictable as the fate of movies. Just like nobody knows how good or bad a movie will do at the box office, nobody has the faintest idea when relationships in B-town can go sore. There are plenty of instances when stars of tinsel town downright refused to do a film because they didn’t like their costar. Though it is pretty common among the celebrities to be choosy about their onscreen looks and roles, refusing to do a film because they didn’t like their co-star is crazy AF.

Bollywood Actors Who Turned Down A Movie Because Of Their Co-star

Well, it seems these actors have a lot to settle with each other!

Kareena Kapoor-Emraan Hashmi

The Begum of Bollywood has always been very picky about her costars. Right at the start of her career, Bebo had announced that she would sign films only opposite A-listers. So, though she agreed to star in Karan Johar’s Badtameez Dil initially, Kareena later walked out of the film citing that she wasn’t comfortable sharing an on-screen lip-lock with costar Emraan Hashmi. Well, only Bebo knows whether this was the real reason or that Hashmi did not fill the bill for her!

Ranbir Kapoor-Sonakshi Sinha

Ranbir Kapoor once turned down a romantic comedy in which he was supposed to share the screen space with Dabbang star Sonakshi Sinha. According to Ranbir, Sona looks way too older than him and starring opposite her would make him look young. Rumours have it that Kapoor suggested the name of another actress for the role but when the producers refused, he chose to walk out of the film.

Ranveer Singh-Katrina Kaif

Before Sidharth Malhotra, Ranveer Singh was offered the role opposite Katrina Kaif in Baar Baar Dekho. However, according to the gossip mill Ranveer turned it down in order to not offend his lady love Deepika Padukone. Apparently, Deepika and Katrina didn’t get along well with each other owing to their history with Ranbir Kapoor.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Emraan Hashmi

Remember the time when Emraan Hashmi called Aishwarya Rai Bachchan “plastic” on Koffee With Karan’s infamous couch? Well, seems Aishwarya never got over that! According to reports, Aishwarya refused to star in Baadshaho when she learnt that Diljit Dosanjh has been replaced by Emraan Hashmi.

Katrina Kaif-Aditya Roy Kapoor

Though Katrina and Aditya are good friends in real life, Kat once refused to work with Aditya because she didn’t want her career graph to see a low. Katrina was seen with Aditya in Fitoor (in 2016) that was a dud at the box office. She had also broken up with beau Ranbir Kapoor around the same time and rumours of Aditya’s closeness to Katrina were doing the rounds. However, after the success of her film Tiger Zinda Hai, Katrina had become very selective in choosing her films and Katrina was not quite sure about their onscreen chemistry after delivering a flop with him.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Salman Khan

The iconic role of Mastani in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani was initially intended for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. However, the beauty queen dropped out of the role after she learnt that Bhansali was planning to cast Salman Khan as Bajirao. Well, Aishwarya and Salman’s ugly breakup is not news to anyone!

Amitabh Bachchan-Kareena Kapoor

Kareen Kapoor Khan was the first choice for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black but when Big B discovered that Bebo has been roped in for the role he refused to do the film. As a result, Kareena was replaced by Rani Mukerji. The relationship between the Bachchans and the Kapoors have been sore ever since the engagement of Abhishek and Karishma was called off.
