#KattiBatti: Bollywood Best Friends Who Shocked Us With Their Break Up

My office homies and I start our day at work with a good 15-minutes chat session as we settle down. And on days when even one of my buddies is not in, it's not the same. Work is work but having a friend at your workplace or in the industry you’re working in, does make it more fun. The rule remains the same for celebrities. Despite being in an industry that’s popular for catfights and controversies, some friendships manage to sail smoothly for years. But not all and not forever.

Here’s a list of Bollywood BFFs whose break up left us shocked

It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there and in an industry that gives you an overdose of power, money and fame, it’s difficult to fight the ego and easier to fight your friends. Here are some B-town friends who broke our hearts as they broke their friendship.

Kareena Kapoor Khan & Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra were once friends but soon there was bitterness between the two leading actresses for reasons unknown. We figured they weren’t exactly fond of each other anymore when Kareena asked Priyanka on Koffee With Karan where she got her accent from to which Priyanka’s response was, “I think it was the same place her boyfriend gets it from.” Rumour has it that things got bitter between the two after Kareena and Shahid’s break up. PC may never accept it but Shahid & Priyanka were a thing back then. Thankfully, the actresses resolved the years-long issue by coming together on the Koffee couch last season.

Shah Rukh Khan & Salman Khan

DNA India

This is probably the most talked-about Bollywood friendship. The scuffle between the Khans is one of the oldest tiffs in Bollywood. Salman and Shah Rukh were real-life Karan-Arjun until Shah Rukh made a snide remark about Salman’s ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at Salman’s then alleged girlfriend Katrina Kaif’s birthday party. This angered Salman to a great extent. The two had a heated argument and things only went downhill from there. The two refused to see face-to-face for the longest time but they’ve now finally buried the hatchet. How they patched up is a mystery but the way they now promote and do cameos in each other’s films tells us that Karan-Arjun are back!

Karan Johar & Kajol

If you had to choose between your best friend and your husband, whose side would you take? KJo and Kajol had been friends for more than 25 years but there came a point when Kajol had to choose between her husband Ajay Devgn and her BFF, Karan. Ajay Devgn had taken a dig at KJo by saying that he spoke ill about Kajol. However, KJo denied the claims as he treats Kajol as family. But last year, when Karan’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clashed with Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay, Ajay released an audio where Kamal R Khan was asking Karan for 25 lakh to write favourably about ADHM. Kajol retweeted the audio with a caption “Shocked!” Since then, KJo maintained his distance from the couple and wanted nothing to do with Kajol. However, it looks like they have resolved the issue now. How? We have no idea. He even invited the couple to be on the Koffee couch last season.

Kartik Aaryan & Luv Ranjan

India Today

Kartik Aaryan and Luv Ranjan’s bond has been quite evident since their first film together, Pyaar Ka Punchama. Their rapport earned great numbers for their film. However, as per rumours, the two had a fallout as Kartik surprised Luv by spiking his fee for an upcoming project. The filmmaker had mentored the actor since his debut and was planning to rope him in for another movie with Ajay Devgn. But Kartik’s demand made things bitter between the two and Luv eventually got Ranbir Kapoor on board. When asked in an interview, Kartik denied any spat with the filmmaker.

Shah Rukh Khan & Farah Khan

Deccan Chronicles

While the two did not really fight, the spat between Shirish Kunder (Farah’s husband) and Shah Rukh did make their friendship bitter. The combat between Shah Rukh Khan and director Shirish Kunder was the only fight that passed the barrier of verbal abuse. SRK apparently punched and slapped Farah’s husband at a private party after he made uncourteous remarks on Shah Rukh’s film Ra.One by calling it a “150-crore firework frizzle.” The incident made headlines and resulted in a fall out between long-time friends Farah and Shah Rukh.
