From Decor To Lehenga Designs, These Are The Latest Wedding Trends Of 2019!

Weddings in India are a big affair and most to-be-married couples and their families prefer to have at least 6-8 months in hand to plan the week-long festivities. The first step in planning a wedding is to identify the top wedding trends. From wedding decor to trending bridal looks of the season, a bride and groom’s wedding inspiration board is always brimming with ideas. So if you’re a bride or her sister, her mother or her bestie who is looking for the top wedding trends of 2019, then you’ve landed at the right page. In this article, I’ve listed down the new wedding decor trends, the latest wedding photography trends in India, wedding dress trends of 2019 and more.

Your wedding decor should represent your personality as a couple. The larger theme can be in-keeping with the trends and your budget, but add in a few personalised elements. Here’s all that’s going to be huge this year.

Printed Fabrics In Wedding Decor

Let interesting prints be the highlight of your wedding decor in 2019. Say goodbye to boring plain drapes and switch things up with colourful prints.

There’s a wide variety of options when it comes to prints. You can choose from polka dots and floral prints to block printed fabrics with quirky motifs. It is important to understand that while prints look great, an overdose of the same will not look good. Do balance out the decor with plain fabrics too. Print-heavy wedding decor is ideal for the mehendi or the haldi ceremony.

Elaborate Table Setting In Wedding Decor

Sit-down dinners are becoming increasingly popular at Indian weddings and if that’s something you want to plan, you must pay extra attention to the tablescape.

Table centrepieces are no longer restricted to a flower vase or a candle. Plan a sit-down dinner at one of the more intimate functions and opt for an elaborate tablescape. You can club the above-mentioned ideas with napkins personalised with the bride and groom’s initials and thank you notes for your guests on every plate.

Minimalist Wedding Decor For The Millennials

You don’t necessarily have to be extra. One of the major wedding trends of 2019 is to go minimal. Here’s how you can nail the trend:

When going minimal, it’s important that you choose striking elements that make a big impact. Also, choose a naturally beautiful and green venue so you don’t have to try too hard with the decor. A quirky print, fairy lights or an innovate centrepiece adds character to your decor without looking OTT.

Nature-themed Wedding Decor Trends

One of the most popular wedding decor trends of 2019 is the nature-themed design. Here’s all the inspiration you need for a picture-perfect wedding:

Don’t just go for a nature-themed decor… Make your wedding is eco-friendly too. Send out e-invites to save paper and gift potted plants as wedding favours. Most importantly, say no to plastic and opt for cups and plates made of eco-friendly material.

The one piece of advice I give all soon-to-be-married couples is to invest in a good photographer. In the end, it’s only the pictures that you have and I’d totally suggest cutting down on the bridal lehenga budget and splurging on a photographer instead. Here are the latest wedding photography trends in India.

Intimate Pre-wedding Shoots

Gateway Of India in Mumbai and Hauz Khas Village in Delhi have been popular pre-wedding photography spots for a while now, but not anymore. There are plenty more options, and we’ve picked out our favourites for you:

This year make your home or your favourite restaurant the venue for your pre-wedding shoot. Ditch the elaborate gowns and layers of makeup for a more relaxed vibe that’s all about you!

Plandid Wedding Photography

A planned candid is the way to go with your wedding images. While candid was and still is huge, for those of you who have specific poses (that don’t look posed!) in mind, a plandid pic is the best. Here are few that I love.

It’s important you share 10-15 inspirational images with your photographer to make sure that you’re not disappointed in the end. Make a list of the kind of images you want so you can have a wedding album that you love.

Black & White Wedding Photos

There is something so romantic and beautiful about black and white photos and 2019 couples must have at least a few in their wedding album.

Wedding fashion trends change every season and as a bride-to-be, you’ve got to know what’s new in the world of bridal fashion.

Plunging Necklines In Wedding Fashion Trends

Couture Week 2019 was all about plunging necklines and so was Sabyasachi’s SS19 collection. As a 2019 bride, opt for a plunging neckline for your sangeet outfit, if not the bridal one.

You can balance out your plunging neckline look with full sleeves or a high back. If you’re not too comfortable flaunting too much of that cleavage, pair a long statement necklace with your outfit.

Metallic Wedding Wear In Wedding Fashion Trends

Metallic has been quite a rage this year. Be it tops, pants or blazers, the metallic effect has been all over and we’ve seen a lot of it in the trending bridal looks of the season.

From Cannes 2019 to Couture Week, metallics have made a huge comeback and should be your wishlist too. Experiment with colours or stick to the classic gold and silver. Tone down your look with minimal jewellery and nude makeup.

Wedding Jewellery Trends Of 2019

Go big or go home is the trend this year. Delicate jewellery pieces take a step back and make way for bolder, statement jewellery pieces. Here’s what we’re loving this season:

The key to mastering the bridal jewellery trends of 2019 is to stick to one statement piece. Choose one main accessory for every function and let your other jewellery pieces be in-keeping with that.

1. Themed wedding functions are gaining popularity. Couples are choosing vividly different themes for each of their functions. These range from tribal to Mughal era to an Indian circus and nature-theme.

2. Traditional kaleeras have made way for customised kaleeras.

3. Another trend I’ve noticed is that of a bride’s baraat. Brides are going all out with their entries and dancing their way in with a baraat of their own.

4. Reception speeches are finally a trend in India too. They add a lot of love and emotion to the night.

5. The year 2019 will see the trend of intimate weddings with fewer guests. Most families are now opting for destination weddings with 100-150 guests for a more personalised and relaxed experience.

While trends come and go, remember that this is your and your fiancé’s day and you must celebrate it exactly like you want to. Do not follow trends blindly, just blend them in with your preferences.
