Chemistry Kahan Thi? 10 Of The Most Blah On-Screen Bollywood Pairings Till Date

Bollywood has produced some of the most beautiful love stories and romantic comedies which continue to charm us, till date. While their scripts are given enough credit, there’s no denying that without any sizzling chemistry or compatibility between the on-screen couples – these movies would have never been a hit. Do you think Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge would’ve gained the same amount of love had it NOT starred Kajol and Shah Rukh? Do you think people would have been just as excited about Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani if Ranbir had been paired with some actress instead of Deepika? No freakin’ way!

So, while some pairings created magic on the screen and made their love seem insanely believable, there were others which created total disasters and made us go WTF! Watching movies with such awkward, on-screen pairings clearly made us want to question their casting directors and ask “WHAT were you even thinking???” Curious to know which ones didn’t make sense? Here are some of the most boring and incompatible on-screen Bollywood jodis which were clearly a mistake:

1. Shah Rukh Khan & Anushka Sharma

1-BLAH-BOLLY

First, in Jab Harry Met Sejal and then in Zero, Shah Rukh and Anushka’s chemistry turned out to be just as dull and unsatisfying as their movies. Frankly speaking, given their age gap, they both would have been able to portray a father-daughter relationship much more easily than a bland, romantic one.

2. Salman Khan & Jacqueline Fernandes

2-BLAH-BOLLY

Although Salman is known for working with co-stars who are always MUCH younger than him, his pairing in Kick with Jacqueline was straight out wrong. As much as we adored her, nothing in the movie could make us believe – even for a second – that she had THOUGHT of falling for Salman, let alone, actually being in love with him and vice versa.

3. Siddharth Malhotra & Katrina Kaif

3-BLAH-BOLLY

I admit. When Siddharth & Katrina were paired for Baar Baar Dekho, we did have certain expectations from this good looking duo. However, neither this movie nor this pairing could ever make any sense, from the beginning till the end. So, if these two ever happen to be paired again for some movie, my advice for everyone will be – Ek baar bhi mat dekho!

4. Emraan Hashmi & Vidya Balan

4-BLAH

Whether it was the uncomfortable age-gap or the forever-depressed-state of Emraan and Vidya in Humari Adhuri Kahaani, these two made us go through a slow death, every time they shared a screen-space together. It almost made us happy that their story remained adhuri (incomplete) forever.

5. Ajay Devgn & Sonakshi Sinha

SONAKSHI-AJAY

We should have taken their trailer as a warning. *deep sigh* Not only did Ajay and Sonakshi look perpetually annoyed with each other throughout their movie Son Of Sardaar (even when they were trying to be comical) but on a scale of 1 to 10, this on-screen pairing was unarguably… MINUS!

6. Shahid Kapoor & Rani Mukherji

6-BLAH

Dil Bode Hadippa might have been too crass for anybody to make it till the end but not more than the awful pairing of Shahid and Rani Mukherji. Honestly, there seemed to be more chemistry between them when Rani would disguise herself as a guy instead of portraying her desi girl identity.

7. Shahid Kapoor & Vidya Balan

7-blah

Words cannot express the disappointment I faced after watching a movie called Kismat Konnection. And when coupled with the pairing of Shahid & Vidya, which was neither romantic nor emotional (except tears of pain) this experience turned out to be the kind that made me question my own fate.

8. Priyanka Chopra Jonas & Uday Chopra

8-BLAH

Pyaar Impossible was a movie which majorly dealt with the issues of a super shy and geeky guy who couldn’t get over his obsession with a hot girl who clearly had no interest in him. Sadly, the movie focussed so *unrealistically* on the concept of ‘inner beauty’ that it forgot to deal with modern-day issues like chemistry, compatibility or attraction. Like, seriously?

9. Ranbir Kapoor & Konkona Sen Sharma

9-blah

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVED watching Wake Up Sid. But as much as I adored Ranbir and Konkana’ s impressive acting skills and their bond in the movie, I could never *feel* those jitters that I’d normally expect from a couple in a movie. They might have looked great as friends but romantically… Nah!

10. Sonakshi Sinha & Imran Khan

10-blah

Releasing Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara was a mistake. Pairing an uncomfortable Sonakshi with an expressionless Imran was the second one. And watching this movie, despite seeing the trailers and being prepared for what’s about to come, was my third mistake. ‘Nuff said.
