This temple is a very important landmark in the city of Bengaluru and attracts a lot of devotees. The temple is known for its huge statue of Lord Ganesha, which is 18 feet in height and 16 feet in width, made from a single rock and is the largest in the country. It was said to be built by Kempe Gowda I, who had established and ruled the city of Bengaluru.

Visit this temple to see the famous Benne Alankara avatar ( adorned in butter) of Lord Ganesha.

2. Iskcon Temple

The Iskcon temple in Bengaluru is one of the largest Iskcon temples in the world, where you can find the idols of Lord Krishna and Radha beautifully adorned in garlands. Built in the year 1997 in Hare Krishna Hills, honoring the founder of Iskcon, Sri Prabhupada, this temple stands as one of the main notable sights in Bengaluru. Besides the temple, it also has a complex for conducting lessons on Lord Krishna’s life, conducting prayers and chantings, lodging rooms for devotees, a museum and a theatre.

This monolithic statue of Lord Shiva is a must visit when you are in Bengaluru. Built and inaugurated in the year 1995, towering at a height of 65 feet, the statue of Lord Shiva with a mighty backdrop of the Himalayas along with an artificial pond is ultimately going to motivate the sense of divinity within you. You can also find a 35 feet tall Lord Ganesha’s statue next to this in pure white colour at the entrance.

4. Shrungagiri Sri Shanmukha Temple

The six faces of Lord Shanmukha are brilliantly architectured in this temple as its main Gopuram (dome). Above this falls another huge dome decorated with crystals.  While these happen to glow during the day, it also keeps dazzling in LEDs during the night. Besides this, you can also find statues of peacocks at the entrance, which are considered Lord Shanmugas main vehicles, and you’ll also find a collection of thousands of Lord Ganesha’s idols.

5. Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple

Known for its 9th-century structures and designs, this temple is believed to be sculpted from a single rock and is devoted to Lord Shiva. Sculptures of Agni ( Fire God) and stone discs are other attractions in this temple.

Visit this temple to witness the Maha Shivratri and also to watch the idol glowing in the sun’s rays during Makar Sankranti.

6. Bull Temple – Dodda Basavana Gudi Temple

A huge idol of Nandi ( Bull ) that is sculpted from a single massive rock is placed inside this temple. It is yet another remarkable work of ruler Kempe Gowda, who also established the city of Bangalore. Situated in Bugle rock park, you can also witness the huge idol of Lord Ganesha in this premise.

8. Banashankari Amma Temple

Banashankari Amma Temple is known for its huge number of devotees who offer lemon diyas (lamps) and prayers on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The unique thing about this temple is that the prayers here are held at a particular inauspicious timing ( Rahu Kaal) in contrast to the usual worshipping time and pattern.

10. Ragigudda Anjaneya Swamy Temple

15. Nageshwara Temple
