Our busy calendar doesn’t always allow us to sit in the bathtub for hours and follow a relaxed routine. Hence, we just take a quick shower every day and rush to our jobs. But have you ever considered exploring the power of bubble baths?

A long, luxurious bubble bath happens to be one of the most affordable yet self-indulgent practices of self-care. For someone who leads a stressful life, good baths can make a huge difference. It helps you unwind after a busy day at work and feel light and relaxed before you go to bed. The sole purpose of bathing might be cleaning, however, bubble bath for adults work more like therapy and takes the ritual to the whole new level.

Bubble baths are not just for kids, this means that you won’t be using the same suds as a 5-year-old child. Other than the bubbles, bath products that are meant for adults are composed of different ingredients like essential oils. They aim to clear your mind and energise your body cells.

How To Make Bubble Bath With Lots Of Bubbles?

There are some basics you can keep in mind if you want to make a bath with lots of bubbles.

To make a cosy bubble bath, the ingredients you need are: 4 cups of water, Castille soap, 1 tablespoon of sugar or honey, 1 egg white, 6 tablespoons of glycerin or coconut oil (both of these lather up well and are good skin softeners), essential oil of your choice and a container and bathtub.

Steps:

  1. Firstly, you mix water with Castille and glycerin or coconut.
  2. Add 4 to 5 drops of essential oils.
  3. You can also mix and match the oils if you like a subtle blend.
  4. Add one tablespoon of sugar or honey and the egg white. While honey will act as a natural humectant and will help your body retain the moisture, the egg white will help you in creating stronger, long-lasting bubbles. Mix it well.
  5. Pour your bubble bath into a container and keep it for a while. Fill your bathtub with water and pour in a couple of ounces of one of your favourite bathtub foam products in the tub.
  6. Now, take a deep breath and enjoy the bath.

Do remember that bubble bath will not foam unless gas is added to it. So use the water jet or place the mixture under tub faucet while pouring into the bathtub.

If you have sore muscles, you can add sea salts or Epsom salt to your bath. If you have dry skin, you can add natural oils. If you are stressed and are feeling restless, add calming scents like vanilla to your bath.

Foam Bath vs Bubble Bath

To create bubbles, you need a bathtub or surfactant products. Foam bath is also referred to a bubble bath, in which a large collection of bubbles are formed on the surface of the water.

Bubble bath is when the bubbles are being formed on the top of the bath water. To create the bubbles you can mix the surfactants with the water. Then, add air to the mixture by putting it under the tub faucet.

Foam refers to the bubbles formed at the topmost layer of the water. Hence, there’s hardly any difference between the bubble bath and foam bath, they are just synonyms. However, the word bubble bath is preferred by more individuals as compared to the foam bath.

People prefer bubble baths as it stays warm for longer by insulating the bathing water and forms more bubbles, so it’s more fun for both children and adults.

How To Make Your Bubble Bath The Most Relaxing Experience Ever?

To make your bubble bath more interesting, you can choose bubbles made with different oils, salts and other soothing and hydrating ingredients. Light some scented candles around the tub. I really like the classics such as Lemon Scented Round Pillar Candle or Vanilla Scented Square Pillar Candle. Play some soothing music. You can either play something instrumental or relaxing nature tunes like the sound of raindrops or a flowing river, whatever soothes you better. If you enjoy reading, this would be a good time to grab a book or magazine along with a glass of fine wine, of course.

Make sure that you moisturise your body well once you’ve taken your bath, and being in the water for so long will dehydrate your skin.

DIY Bubble Bath Recipes

Trust me, there’s nothing like creating your own recipe for a DIY bubble bath. It’s built as per your needs, likes and dislikes and who doesn’t like that kind of self-pampering? Here are a few DIY bubble bath recipes that’ll give you an idea on how to discover your own taste.

Lavender Eucalyptus Bubble Bath

To make a lavender eucalyptus DIY bubble bath, you’ll need water, lavender and eucalyptus essential oil, Castile soap, glycerin or coconut oil and a non-glass container. Glycerin will be available in the form of a transparent bar which will soften the skin as you enjoy the bath and Castile soap will create the bubbles. Follow the steps mentioned above to make a nice, hot bath for yourself.

Honey Vanilla Bubble Bath

This sweet concoction uses a different set of ingredients but don’t worry, you already have them in your kitchen. Combine honey, almond oil, liquid soap, egg white and vanilla extract. Pour the mixture into the running bath. If you’re left with more mixture, store it in the refrigerator or the egg white will go bad.

Peppermint Bubbling Bath Salts

Peppermint always puts you in a holiday spirit, doesn’t it?! What’s more stress relieving than feeling Christmas-y? To prepare peppermint bubbling bath salts, combine 3/4 Cup unscented body wash, 1 tablespoon of carrier oil (coconut, sweet almond or olive), 3 to 4 drops peppermint essential oil and red food colouring if you like it.

In a large bowl, combine salt and body wash until it’s mixed well. Mix your essential oil and carrier oil well. Separate your salt into two bowls and add food colouring into one of them and mix it until the colour is uniform. On a parchment paper, spread the salt and allow it to dry for 24 hours. Once that’s done, you can store the colourful mixture into a jar. As you add it to your bubble bath, add 1/4 cup of it under the running water.

Lavender And Chamomile Bath Melts

Want to know another way to explore the scent of lavender? Combine lemon and orange with grated lemon zest, shredded rose petals or geranium essential oil. Also, include shea butter, cocoa butter and chamomile tea. Use a mold of your choice to set the bath melt.

If you don’t like the idea of being covered in flower petals and zest, put the bar in a muslin cloth before dipping it into the running bath.

Vanilla Bubble Bath

Vanilla bubble bath only needs three ingredients – bubble bath soap, glycerin and vanilla extract. Stir together the three ingredients and pour into your running bath. If you like the scent of spice, don’t shy away from adding a little cinnamon or nutmeg to your mixture.
