"We became friends, and slowly... I don't think either of us can answer how it became a relationship. It just evolved. And we just knew that yes, we're meant for each other."
They met at a school dance, around 13 years ago; and despite the challenges of long distance, different timezones, they still managed to make their relationship work beautifully. Meet Apporva and Nikhil, a couple whose innocent love story is sure to tug at your heartstrings. The duo married in an intimate ceremony at Alila Diwa, Goa and there was something so beautiful and refreshing about their union. Both the bride and the groom had always wanted a gathering of only their closest friends and family. They wanted a genuinely relaxed wedding where no one would feel rushed or pressured with a timeline of multiple celebrations. They didn't even want their parents to be stressed with anything at all, and they even wanted to pay for the wedding themselves. " It was difficult to convince our parents but they finally did come around. We had just 70 guests and we chose a venue that was naturally beautiful. We did not hire a wedding planner or a decorator and did everything ourselves," shared Apoorva.
Before we get to their wedding pictures by Cam Catches, you've got to watch their wedding video to hear their amazingly sweet love story!
It wasn't just their love story or their close-knit wedding that charmed us. Apoorva and Nikhil peppered their celebrations with a lot of fun, personalised and thoughtful details. The couple did not accept any wedding gifts. Instead, they shared a list of their preferred charities for the guests to donate to.
The newlyweds also put together this memory corner all on their own. They printed out polaroids of all their special moments and carried white ribbons to add their personal touch to the celebrations.
Apoorva wore a floral Mahima Mahajan ensemble while Nikhil looked dapper in a Massimo Dutti suit for the day ceremonies. The groom later changed into an off-white Anita Dongre sherwani with floral motifs while the bride looked ethereal in a sea green bridal outfit by Shrangar. "I was very clear from the beginning that I did not want to wear anything very traditional. When I saw this lehenga, it just went perfectly with the beach theme," shared the bride.
Apoorva's makeup artist was Delhi-based Chandni Goyal and the jewellery was by our fave brand, Purab Paschim. In fact, she bought her jewellery just 10 days before the wedding and was all praise for Purab Paschim for accommodating her requests last-minute and giving her a gorgeous set that perfectly complemented her unconventional bridal lehenga.
The pheras were followed by the shoe game which is always a lot of fun! Here are some more fun ideas and games you can play at your wedding.
Apoorva and Nikhil even got these super adorable prompt cards for their guests to fill in. "One of our friends read a few of them at the wedding and asked us to guess the names of the people who had filled them. We managed to guess almost all 😄," shared Apoorva.
It's not every day that you see a wedding so beautifully put together and personalised in the truest sense. From a small guest list, to the no gifts policy, to the minimal decor, and the fun games... There's something so heartwarming and real about this celebration. We wish the newlyweds lots of love, hugs and best wishes in the years to come. Congratulations, you two!
