Bollywood celebrities love media attention but there are times when they want to stay off the radar. The media and the paparazzi follow these celebs wherever they go. Be it trailer launches, date nights, red carpet appearances, press conferences or even personal vacations, the shutterbugs and reporters keep a close eye on the tinsel town to get pictures or bytes from them. While most of the questions asked by the media are answered by the stars, there are times they get furious at the kind of questions asked. Here are some instances when Bollywood celebs got angry at the media for crossing the line.
Who can forget the Deepika versus a national daily controversy? The newspaper had put pictures of the actress clicked from different angles on their front page and called her out for objectionable dressing and showing off her cleavage. Deepika took to Twitter and expressed her anger over the said distasteful article. Post that episode, Deepika was asked about it whenever and wherever she went. At a press conference for Finding Fanny, one of the reporters asked her why did she make a big deal out of such a petty issue. Deepika was appaled with the question and said, "Can you pan the camera on this lady? You have no idea what you are saying right now. I'm already very upset and you are making me even more upset. You being a woman and you are calling it a petty issue is so unfortunate."
Alia was mercilessly trolled for lacking general knowledge after not being able to recall the name of the president of India on Karan Johar's chat show, Koffee With Karan. At the red carpet of an award show, one of the reporters quizzed her by asking why is Holi celebrated. Alia snapped at him and cross-questioned him by saying, "Do you know who's the president of China? President of South Africa? If you don't know then don't say, bro!"
Salman Khan is known to be hotheaded when it comes to interacting with the media. At a press conference for Jai Ho, one of the journalists asked him the most obvious question, when was he getting married. To which Salman had a befitting reply, "Kya anokha sawaal poocha hai yeh aunty ne! Kaafi manjhi huyi patrakaar hai yeh."
Also, in a press conference for Being Human, a reporter asked Salman if Being Human was a PR stunt. Salman lost his cool and said, "Do you have any idea of the amount of work we do at Being Human? We do shit loads of work on a daily basis. I haven't even put my name there, man. I'm not even on the Board or any of the trustees. The idea is that years from now, people should forget who even started the foundation. You have no idea, man. Do one thing: Come and live my life for one day." He walked out of the conference soon after.
Preity Zinta and ex-boyfriend Ness Wadi had an ugly public breakup. The actress had filed a complaint against Ness, accusing him of molestation, threats and abuse. Despite the fallout, the two remained co-owners of the IPL team Kings XI Punjab. In an interview, a reporter asked Preity about the fallout and the actress did not appreciate the ill-timed question. "Why do you have to ruin everything? Whatever has happened off the ground has got nothing to do with what happens on the ground which is the game. And I would really appreciate if the media doesn't blow everything out of proportion," she retorted.
Abhishek has always raised an eyebrow every time a reporter has called his wife Aish instead of Aishwarya. Apart from that, he was once asked by a reporter about what happened at the trailer launch of Aishwarya's Sarbjit, the two seemed to have had some differences and if all is well in their paradise. To this, Abhishek gave a befitting reply saying, "I don't have to say anything to you all about that. I think you all have blown everything out of proportion sadly. But I understand why you all have to do it because you all also have to file some stories. It's okay, we're celebrities, we have to bear it." He then flashed his ring finger to the audience and said, "Still married though, so no sensational news for you today."
Hrithik Roshan had an ugly encounter with the media when they invaded his privacy during his visit to Shirdi along with his family to seek blessings before the release of Kites. When the paparazzi tried to click images of him and everyone present, he specifically refused to pose for images and went inside the temple. When the camera persons followed him inside, he got really angry and held one of the cameramen by the neck and pushed his way out of the temple.
At the press conference for Shuddh Desi Romance, a journalist asked Parineeti Chopra about her views on the following statement. "When girls are young, they enjoy it and when they get old, they start screaming and shouting and say men exploit them". The actress was furious and gave him a piece of her mind. She said, "As per convenience how can you blame girls by saying that when girls are young they like it and when they're older they shout at us? I think that's ridiculous and very disrespectful to say to a girl especially. I think if there is sex or a kiss or a hug, there are two people involved and not just the girl."
