I have a problem. I am a lip balm hoarder. When you own a number of lip balms that can fill up an entire suitcase, you need to admit that you might be...a junkie. Moisturisation is the boon and bane of my existence. Bane because, well, I own a bazillion lip balms and have (at least) 10 on me at all times. Boon because well, my lips are always moisturised.
I have owned and tried more than 200 lip balms - from drugstore ones to tinted versions to even medicated variants. Some were great, but most of them didn't make the cut. After trying, testing and buying more, I feel like I've found my ride or die lip balms. These vary extensively in budget and a little in functionality but they definitely give you fabulous results. Now that winter is finally here...shall we?
For the price bracket that this one is in, it is the most luxurious lip balm I have used. You can't call this formula weightless but it isn't sticky either. It's an oily formula that stays on your lips for a while and then seeps into the lips, leaving them feeling nice and supple. This particular one has a slight tint that gives just the right rose finish to your pout.

I am a huge fan of mint, (you will notice this as the list moves along,) but this lip balm in particular just gives me a happy nostalgic feeling. It moisturises to a high degree, but it still requires frequent reapplication. The cocoa butter fragrance and the taste is definitely a little strong, so be wary if you do not like chocolate.

Travelling has brought me this gem and I am ever grateful for it! I have used it before but it didn't find a place in my holy grail list until my recent trip to Hong Kong. At some point during the trip, I landed up with a painful shoe bite. This balm also helps combat inflammation and soothes irritated skin. I decided to apply a dollop of this on the inflammation and the next morning I woke up to a 50% smaller shoe bite! Now imagine, if the ointment could do this to a calloused shoe bite just think what it could do to my LIPS!

I started using this when Kiehl's first came to India. This lip balm had no fragrance and it came in a jar. I fell in love with this one then! It soaks into the skin almost immediately but also gives your lips a glossy shine. Another thing I absolutely LOVE is that you can use this as an overnight under eye treatment and wake up to supple and soft under eye area.

The OG lip balm, the mother of all balms, this one is the BALM DOT COM! When you have to turn to super moisturising lip balms without a fuss I find myself reaching for this tube. This is one of those balms that you can apply, wait 15 mins and dab off and you will have MAGNIFICENT lips ready for any lip colour you're planning on applying.

This was recommended by a dermatologist when I was on heavy medication for an ailment. Usually, this is recommended for women who are on Accutane or similar radical acne medication. It is supremely moisturising and does its job to perfection. Fair warning: It has a medicinal fragrance and forms a thick layer on the lips.

Apart from mint, I am attracted to the scent of rose. This balm reminds me of the Smith's Rosebud Salve. It has got a sheer tint that stays on your lips even when the balm comes off. The only issue I have with it is that it comes in a jar shape. Now that I have long nails I am NOT particularly comfortable with carrying this one around, especially because it is tinted.

This should be a staple in every person's skincare and makeup pouch. The slight fragrance and waxy consistency makes sure you have a highly moisturised pout all through the day. I like this one especially because the formula is so basic, I can use it as an eye cream and cuticle cream in a pinch. If this is your budget for spending on lip balms, you're going to LOVE these ones - they're all under Rs 100!

I have experienced the goodness of other K-beauty formulas from Innisfree, but this is the latest discovery! The formula is non-sticky, extremely lightweight and seeps into the skin almost immediately. Although I have to mention, it has a medicinal scent that might be off-putting for some.

This is a 'from way back then' staple in my kit. I can't get over how moisturising this product is. The fact that it has such a pigmented stain, I am surprised it works as a lip balm magnificently!

These are a few of my favourite things! Are any of these on your list too?
