Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja might have chilled all weekend with Nick Jonas and PeeCee at Lake Como, and are probably still chilling in Italy somewhere… but when it comes to hustling, they’ve always put work first. Naturally, there were no surprises when Sonam posted a work-related announcement earlier this morning.
Anand, a businessman, and Sonam Kapoor’s husband, as we know, is the founder of two brands, VegNonVeg and Bhane. The latter of which is almost 6 years old. Earlier today, Sonam Kapoor posted a picture about the anniversary of her beau’s brand. How cute is that? But, then again, they are the cutest Bollywood couple ever.
However, it’s not the anniversary that has us excited. Sonam’s Instagram post in question reveals a new member aboard the Bhane team. The new Creative Director is a familiar face, and a designer loved by many, a celebrity in Bollywood and beyond – Nimish Shift.
Nimish is an Indian designer and London College of Fashion graduate, whose brand Shift has been spotted on celebrities like Anushka Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Sonam Kapoor herself and the likes. The designer also announced Bhane’s new spelling – Bhaane – and a revealed a new email address, signalling his followers about the big news.
While Sonam’s Instagram caption excites us about the new possibilities in the future for Anand’s western wear brand, Bhaane – it also drops a subtle hint at what Nimish’s big move to the label means for us –
“His penchant for cool vintage & finesse in fashion will expand Bhaane’s rationale while still exciting our loyalist.”
So, we know the bigger picture is to retain Bhaane’s aesthetic, and vibe, with Nimish’s ‘vintage cool’ elements. Or at least, we hope that’s the case…
The question is, how do things change for Nimish? If Nimish decides to be Creative Director at Bhaane and work for his label simultaneously, it would be a first in India.
