Try This Sleeping Position For That Glow In All Your #IWokeUpLikeThis Selfies

You must have been through mornings where your eyes look puffy and you feel groggy too. If you too want to take a selfie saying #IWokeUpLikeThis where you have glowing skin sans a filter, you need to read this. According to research, the way you sleep greatly impacts the way you look the morning after. Sleeping peacefully is called 'beauty sleep' for a reason, after all.

Believe it or not, there's a sleeping position that can give you glowing and clear skin the following day. Facial Aesthetician Dr Spiegel has done research on the subject and showed that prolonged exposure of skin against fabrics can lead to lines and wrinkles on the face. Not all sleeping positions are bad for your skin though. In fact, one of them promotes good skin health.

Sleeping on your back would help you get that natural glow!

sleep on back skin

First of all, it is a position that prevents you from rubbing your skin against the bed. This will help you steer your skin clear of any lines and wrinkles. Known as 'sleep lines', they often appear parallel to the temples, around your eyes, lateral cheek and mouth. If you sleep on a particular side for years, you may develop permanent skin lines on that side, which may even contribute to facial asymmetry. This position also helps prevent puffy and swollen eyes.

Now, as far as getting the right glow is concerned, when you sleep on your back with a sleek pillow under your head, it will help in preventing fluid retention in the body. "When you lie down on any particular area or side of the face, fluid can pool in those areas and give the impression that those areas are more swollen," told dermatologist Dr. Sameer Bashey to a website.

Another reason why sleeping on your back is great for your skin is because it allows better cell turnover in the face. This refers to the replacement of dead skin cells with new ones.

Also, if you use a night cream, your skin repairs and rejuvenates itself while you sleep.

While sleeping on your back is the best position for your skin, sleeping on your stomach is the worst. This is because it stresses your skin, does not let it renew cells and leads to sleep lines.

Isn't this amazing info, ladies? Who knew that getting a glow isn't that tough a job, after all?
