Make These 8 Tiny Changes To Turn Your Bathroom Into A Spa

Peeps who live in Bombay will understand the struggles of living in a matchbox-sized house with a tiny bathroom. Finding peace and calm in the space like that seems impossible, but it actually isn't. Let your creative juices flow and don't be afraid to dream big. That way, when you come home from a tiring day of work or study, you'll come home to space filled with good vibes. Here's how to make your tiny bathroom your happy place.

1. Channel Your Inner Picasso

When doing up your bathroom, opt for paints or titles that have a neutral colour scheme. Think shades like soft cream, pale green, space grey, beige, earthy brown, basically any colour that's calming and soothing to look at. Also, if you have a window in your bathroom, adding pretty bonsai plants or candles will help you reach zen mode quicker.

2. Less Is More

If your bathroom is tiny, it makes no sense to flood the space with items. No bulky buckets, ugly bathroom stools and long rugs. You need to keep your bathroom clean and minimal. Take away all that stuff and dump it in the trash. The lesser you see, the lighter you'll feel.

3. Replace Plastic Boxes With Glass Jars

Clutter has a habit of making people anxious. If there are a plenty of toilet rolls, dirty plastic containers, used cotton wipes, hairballs and old towels - you'll instantly feel tense and anxious. Clean your bathroom up and put all your toiletries into a glass box. Glass cases make bathroom spaces look way more elegant and luxurious compared to plastic containers.

4. Dim The Lights, Please?

Unless it's natural light, I'm not much of a big fan of bright lighting in the bathroom. I prefer dim lightening that helps give my bathroom a cosy and spa-like feel. A hot shower, dim lighting and a glass of wine - life is good!

5. Faux Wooden Flooring Be So Calming

Don't even think of installing real wooden planks in your bathroom. The moisture and water will make the wood soggy and rot from within. Choose faux wooden tiles made from porcelain or ceramic. These are easier to maintain, clean up and look like the real spa deal.

6. Get Your Groove On

I'm the kind of person who likes to listen to music while I take a shower. As soon as I lock the door, my bathroom transforms into a stage and my shower head becomes my mike in my head. Music relaxes me and helps me unwind. If it does the same for you, I suggest that you buy a waterproof Bluetooth speaker. That way, you can boogie to your heart's content.

7. The Smell of Nature

Scent plays a powerful role in keeping your mind cool and calm. That's one of the reasons why every spa today smells of lemongrass, lavender, peppermint and jasmine. These scents help to enhance your sensual experience. Whether you pick up a spray, scented candles, dried rose petals or an aromatherapy diffuser, you're bound to feel close to mother nature.

8. Bathtub Vs Massage Shower Head

If your bathroom is big and spacious, it makes sense to have a bathtub. Bathtubs offer a far more relaxing experience as compared to showers, but you do land up wasting more water. I would recommend that you install a massage shower head as it'll satisfy all your spa-like needs. Plus, the shower doesn't take too much of space and is way more affordable than the tub for sure.
