US Bride Asked Guests To Gift Her Rs 1 Lakh Cash So She Could Have Her Dream Wedding!

How far would you go to make your dream wedding a reality? Not as far as this bride, Susan, we’re guessing! What did she do, you ask? Well, she asked her guests to donate $1500 for her dream wedding. Yes, we had the same reaction when we came across this post going viral on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms. Yes, that’s 1,05,285.50 in Indian Rupees. And this is how it turned out to be! Read on…

Susan and her (now) ex-husband had known each other since their childhood days. They had been together since they were 14 and life had been a fairy tale for the couple. Her ex-fiance proposed to her at the age of 18 with a ring worth $5,000. The duo was very much-in-love in their own little paradise. Four years later, Susan was pregnant with their first child together. After having the baby, they both decided to focus on their careers and become financially stable and then tie the knot!

Susan and her boyfriend did the same and saved up a good amount of $15,000 for their wedding. But it just wasn’t enough for the venue of their choice. That’s when they decided to raise funds for their dream wedding and asked their guests to pay a cash amount of $1500 as gifts. We’re not even kidding, and neither were they apparently.

“I specifically, I mean specifically, asked for cash gifts. How could we have our wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding? We’d sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,500. We talked to a few people who even promised us more to make our dream come true.”

Susan’s maid of honour offered $5,000 and her ex’s family offered $3,000. And that’s when Susan’s frustration kicked in! Only eight guests had RSVP’d and sent along the $1,500. She lost it completely. And decided to call off the wedding with this post.

“It comes with great sadness that I am announcing the cancellation of the [redacted] wedding. I apologize for cancelling only 4 days beforehand. In one hour after posting this status, I am going to delete my Facebook. Social media has caused me only paranoia and toxicity.”

Before calling it off, Susan resent their wedding invites and asked people to donate what they could. While her ex, tried his bit to make things better and came up with an idea of having a Vegas wedding instead, nothing could convince Susan.

“I mean, seriously, people, what is $1,000? What is $1,500? Clearly, not a lot. It would be quite manageable and within budget. I’ve heard of people asking for worse. How could someone who offered me thousands of dollars then deny me my promised money and then tell me to shift down my budget.”

She even wrote about her maid of honour:

“She knows my f–king dream was a blowout wedding. I just wanted to be a Kardashian for a day and then live my life like normal.”

Putting your curiosity to rest, Susan is now spending the next two months backpacking in South America.

“I will be exploring my soul and be ridding myself off toxic energy brought in by my friends and family.”

Well, we don’t know what to say. We don’t know if it’s just bizarre or plain hilarious, but spending a lakh for a wedding as a guest got a tad too much for the guests we’re guessing. And who could even blame them!!!
