Happy Oiling: This 2 Minute Read Will Get You A Step Closer To Thick & Shiny Hair

Once a week, I make it a point to get a hot hair oil massage from my parlour waali didi. She oils my hair first, then follows it with a scalp massage and finishes it off with a hair wash. It's been 3 months since I stuck to this haircare routine and I can't tell you how healthy, nourished and thick my locks have become. Think of it this way - Just how your body needs food to survive, your hair needs oil.



If your hair concerns include dandruff, itchy scalp, hair fall and dryness, you need three oils in your life STAT! Yup, I'm talking about almond oil, coconut oil and olive oil.  All three oils are easily available and are good for both skin and hair. I recommend all three of them because they are packed with properties and nutrients that keep your mane healthy and thick.

Also when oiling your hair, don't do it when your scalp is dirty, greasy and oily. This can lead to scalp infection and make your strands limp. You must only oil your hair when your scalp is squeaky clean.


How To Oil Your Hair The Right Way?


Here are some oiling tips for shiny hair including these basic steps:

Step 1: Add 4 tablespoons of your favourite oil (Almond, coconut or olive) to a steel bowl.

Step 2: Now place the steel bowl on the stove and turn the burner on to medium flame.


Step 3: Add a few drops of water to the oil and stir both liquids using a toothpick.


Step 4: Leave it to boil for 45 secs to a minute and switch the flame off.


Step 5: Dip your fingers into the bowl and gently begin to massage your scalp in circular motions.


Step 6: Take a hot towel and wrap it around your head.


Step 7: You can wash your hair with lukewarm water after 20-30 minutes.

If you want to mix essential oils with almond, coconut and olive, I suggest that you keep your hair type in mind.
