There was a time when Bollywood movies were longer and intervals made sense. With a number of songs and a storyline that stretched a little too much, 3 hours was the norm back then. But now with better editing, crisper scenes, and excellent storytelling, the movies are only 2 hours 20 minutes or so.
Here are 10 movies that are so long that it will make you want to catch some sleep but, also make you feel like ‘Yaar I need to watch the ending’.
1. Gadar (3 Hours 11 Min)
Even though the movie was stretched a bit too much, we loved the Sunny Deol movie. ‘Coz it didn’t just give us memories but also amazing songs like ‘Mein Nikla O’ Gaddi Leke’ that we still groove to.
2. Hum Aapke Hai Koun (3 Hours 26 Min)
Hum Aapke Hai Koun wasn’t just long but also included 14 songs which probably is what made it the 3 hours 26 minutes long movie. Along with the very long film, they also gave us a bunch of great ideas for wedding functions!
3. Swades (3 Hours 30 Min)
One of Ashutosh Gowariker’s best work till now along with SRK’s brilliant performance in the movie. Even though it was a brilliant movie, the length of the movie couldn’t work well with the Indian audience.
4. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (3 Hours 31 Min)
As much as we love, Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham you have to admit that it was quite long. There was so much masala in the movie that I’m shocked that it didn’t go up to 4 hours.
5. Jodha Akbar (3 Hours 33 Min)
I guess Ashutosh Gowariker is known for his long films, after all, isn’t he? Even though the movie was a masterpiece with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan but the audience had one tiny complaint which was the length of the movie.
6. Mohabbatein (3 Hours 36 Min)
Another SRK movie with a great star cast that included Aishwarya Rai and Big B as well. We all loved watching it despite it being long, ‘coz we can’t help it, no. It’s Mohabbatein!
7. Salaam-E-Ishq (3 Hours 44 Min)
From the songs to the love story and the steaming hot chemistry between all the actors. The movie had to be long, ‘coz they showed us not one but six love stories. And we absolutely loved it!
8. Lagaan (3 Hours 45 Min)
We have no complaints with Lagaan ‘coz if it was a 3 hour 45 min movie then so much of the story would have been missed out. So, we do whatever it takes whether it includes us taking breaks, we do it to watch Lagaan.
9. Hum Saath Saath Hain (3 Hours 48 Min)
The story goes as long as the list of the cast involved but despite that, it never fails to entertain us.
10. LOC Kargil (4 Hours 15 Min)
Great screenplay, great script, and actors all well done together but we do wish the movie was a bit crisp and shorter. So, that it would appeal not just to the older audience but even the young generation.
