#TakeTwo: Bollywood Celebrities Who Gave Their Marriages A Second Chance!

Who said pyaar ek baar hota hai? And no, Karan Johar and Rahul Khanna don’t count. They also said shaadi bhi ek hi baar hoti hai, but we know that’s not the case, right? Relationships and marriages don’t come with a certificate that says ‘Valid Forever’. People change with time and so do circumstances, and thus, so do relationships. Giving marriage a second chance can’t be easy, but these Bollywood celebrities set an excellent example.

1. Saif Ali Khan

In 1991, Saif married Amrita Singh, who is 12 years older to him and much, much more popular. The wedding caught a lot of attention, not just because of the age gap, but also because of the fact that Amrita was a successful actress while Saif was only a beginner in the cinema world. Their marriage ultimately went kaput after 13 years and two kids, for unknown reasons.

But Saif did not shy away from finding love in Kareena Kapoor, who was 13 years younger to her. They got married in 2012 and are happily settled with their baby boy Taimur.

4. Aamir Khan

Marrying your childhood sweetheart also doesn’t guarantee a happily ever after, and Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s marriage is proof of that. They had been dating for a long, long time before they decided to tie the knot. But his busy schedule and inability to give time to his family eventually led to their marriage ending in a divorce.

But Aamir found love again and married Kiran Rao, with whom he has a son named Azad. Aamir himself admitted that he’s trying to change his ways and makes an effort to spend more time with his family now.

5. Kirron Kher

Kirron Kher met Anupam Kher at the Chandigarh Theatre Group. Anupam was a married man but his marriage was going through a rough patch and he found a confidante in Kirron. They became good friends. Soon after, Kirron came to Mumbai where she met businessman Gautam Berry and tied the knot with him that same year. Soon after she realised that things were not working out with Gautam. By now, they had two kids together but Anupam and Kirron were still friends.

Eventually, they fell madly in love with each other, divorced their respective partners and tied the knot in 1985. The heart wants what it wants, right?

6. Dharmendra

Love is blind and a person in love can do anything to make things work with their partner. This was the case with Dharmendra. He was married to Prakash Kaur and had two sons, Sunny and Bobby when Hema Malini came into his life. They fell in love with each other and wanted to get married.

But as luck would have it, Dharam ji’s wife refused to give him a divorce. So, he converted to Islam to get married to Hema and they tied the knot in 1980, after almost a decade of being in love with each other.

7. Neelam Kothari

Neelam got married to Rishi Sethia, a UK businessman in 2000. But soon after, differences cropped up between the two and they parted ways. Later, Ekta Kapoor introduced Neelam to actor Samir Soni and they instantly hit it off. They both knew that this would lead to marriage and after dating for around three years, they tied the knot in a simple ceremony in 2011. They adopted a baby girl in 2013 and named her Ahana.

Moral of the story? It’s always good to give your marriage a chance to work but if it doesn’t, you should not shy away from finding love again.
