There are certain roles in an actor’s life that change their film trajectory forever. Take Alia Bhatt in Highway, Sonam Kapoor in Neerja, Priyanka Chopra in Mary Kom or Deepika Padukone in Piku. One can’t deny that these movies pushed the envelope and put the actors on the map. But there’s another thing that these movies have in common—the lead actors weren’t the only ones who garnered the attention. All four movies also star the perfect supporting cast that ensures the film is a perfect package. Randeep Hooda in Highway, Jim Sarbh in Neerja, Darshan Kumaar in Mary Kom, and Irfan Khan in Piku, all seem like unlikely choices at first but look closer and you can’t imagine the film without them.
That is the magic wielded by a Casting Director. Think of it like putting together a really massive puzzle and casting directors are the ones who actually manage to put every single piece together. The result? Great movies with even better actors that make a mark in the industry.
One such wizard is 31-year-old Aadore Mukherjee, who forayed into films when she was younger than most. At just 16, she joined the production company Genesis and started trying her hand at direction, costumes, and casting. The latter, she realised, she was a natural at. Cut to many years later, she’s the woman who scored the talent for some of our favourite flicks like Delhi Belly, Don 2, Ek Villain, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and even Baar Baar Dekho. Her work in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in particular put her on the map. Her choice of supporting cast garnered interest in the industry and the media, and proved to be a casting masterstroke. But while she may be behind the camera, the young trailblazer and co-founder of Dazzlr (an app that allows aspiring actors to clue into casting calls of all sorts) is a style chameleon in her own right.
We followed her deep in the insta-verse only to discover that young Mukherjee has a gift of the garb. From peppy Indian ensembles to minimalist separates and must-have accessories, the girl has a handle on fashion. Here are some of her looks that we can’t stop obsessing over.
