Peru is one of the richest countries in the world when it comes to nature and history. The lush green Amazon rainforests, the fresh air of the Andes after a long climb to Machu Picchu, and the natural beauty of the Inca valleys that even Instagram can't beat make this South American nation a favourite amongst travellers. So when Plixxo influencers Durjoy Datta and Avantika Mohan travelled to Peru recently, we got another closer look at its breathtaking landscapes and 5,000 years of history.
Whether you're on your honeymoon or travelling with your mates, Peru is an excellent choice for a holiday. Listen to the distant sound of the flowing river, gaze at the towering mountain peaks, breathe in the fresh air of the valleys and go on trails to discover the region on foot - there is a lot waiting for you in the country. Take a cue from Durjoy and Avantika's holiday in Peru that included a visit to Machu Picchu, an ancient Inca city high in the Andes mountains, and a stop in the colonial city of Cusco, an archaeological site of Inca ruins and valleys.
Here are some pictures from their travel to Peru that will make you want to pay a visit to this wonder of the world.
I didn't want to thrust my face into this and spoil it. Just look at it. I took this from my freaking phone and yet see how beautiful. Cameras at Machu Picchu are useless; you can't hope to capture what it's like to be there. All the whole before I was like . . kitna hi achha hoga. . . But when that narrow rocky passage opened up to the ruins . . when the clouds lifted and drifted away. Damn. A little piece of heaven carved out of a mountain. The three flights and two buses and four taxis to get there was worth it just for that moment. We spent six hours and could have spent six more. Did I say I wouldn't butt my face in? I would in the other pictures. :)
Brace yourself for the magical Machu Picchu in the words of your favourite writer, no less.
One picture with the Mrs.
Durjoy sure is all about the view! #IfYouKnowWhatIMean
Some street style fashion in the streets of Cusco. And to quote Avantika, "Walking around Cusco town was like going back into time. It was incredible."
"Love these little towns and cities where you can walk from one end to another!", you and me both Avantika.
How's your wanderlust treating you this summer?
