Everything You Need To Know To Pull Off A Wedding Just Like Sonam’s!

Everything You Need To Know To Pull Off A Wedding Just Like Sonam’s!

Sonam Kapoor’s wedding was indeed phenomenal and we have not an ounce of doubt about that. And it must have took a lot of thinking, planning and organizing to pull off the grandest celebrity wedding of the year. But you know the best part? Even though it was a celeb wedding, it didn’t feel superficial at all. It was grand and royal when it needed to be and just a simple ghar ki shaadi, at the same time. We loved everything about the #EverydayPhenomenal wedding and so, we tried to point out a few things we think made Anand and Sonam‘s wedding such a huge success.

1. Hire a GOOD entertainer for the celebrations…

Yes, you got the best caterer, perfect decor and everything else in place for the event. But what about the entertainment for the night? No, we’re not saying get a celebrity to do a dance performance at your wedding, but hire a good DJ. Most people don’t pay much attention to this part and end up playing songs on bluetooth speakers all night which is just not the same. So, keep this in mind.

2. Pretty, pretty mehendi favours!

Yes yes, get the best mehendi artist you know of, but don’t forget mehendi favours. And nowadays it’s not even a problem to find favours to fit all budgets. Sonam got pretty Fizzy Goblet juttis for her guests which was a lovely idea. You can also get nice potli bags, customized chocolates, bangles etc.

3. Keep it simple, silly!

We’re talking about the wedding ceremony, the actual pheras and other rituals. Make the sangeet and cocktail a night to remember, but if you’re planning to host a reception also, then keep the wedding ceremony intimate. Limit the guest list to just close friends and family. That way, you will be able to concentrate on everything and everyone that matters.

4. Rope in friends and relatives whenever possible!

Sonam opted for her aunt’s vintage bungalow in Mumbai as her wedding venue instead of all the plush hotels, resorts and luxury destinations. It was a very smart move indeed. It gave a very homely and intimate feel to the wedding ceremony.

5. Have a rocking reception!

Now that you’ve had a simple, private wedding ceremony, it’s time to celebrate!!! This is what Sonam did – she wore the heaviest red lehenga for her day wedding, and then chilled out at the reception in an easy breezy grey lehenga with a cape. And we all saw the videos of the rocking reception that the Kapoors hosted. Definitely one helluva night!

6. When in doubt, pick the classics!

We loved Sonam’s outfits for all her functions, but what we loved most was that she opted for a traditional red lehenga on her big day. Given her fashion muse status, many people might have expected her to opt for a different colour, but she chose the classic red! If you are super confused about what colour to opt for, then just pick red. No bride has ever gone wrong with it!

7. Customized kaleere and mangalsutra, anyone?

All of us remember her gorgeous peacock kaleeras and her zodiac mangalsutra, don’t we? And we remember them so well because they were unique. Incorporate some quirk with tradition and it’ll do wonders for you.

8. Decor matters!

Don’t go overboard with the decor, keep it subtle and classy. That is what will make your wedding look truly grand and worth obsessing over. Flowers, candles and tiny trinkets go a long way in making the decor look super pretty. Lesson learnt!

9. Always look after and thank the people who made your wedding a success!

The Kapoors were not just the most fun hosts we’ve ever come across, but also the sweetest. They had packed lunches and sweet boxes especially for the media crew who was covering the wedding. Sonan later took to her Instagram to thank her family and everyone who made her day special. Such a beautiful gesture!

Now you know how to make your wedding truly phenomenal. Hope these tips help!
