The 55th edition of Miss India was held last night and the winner of the crown is a 19-year-old French literature student, Anukreethy Vas. A resident of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the second-year student at Loyola College always dreamt of becoming a supermodel. Raised by a single mom, she was crowned Miss Tamil Nadu earlier this year. She dreams of beginning her career as an actress.
The first runner-up in this extravagant ceremony in Mumbai hosted by Karan Johar and Ayushmann Khurrana was Meenakshi Chaudhary from Haryana and Shreya Rao from Andhra Pradesh became the second runner-up.
All three participants went through rounds of Q&A sessions with actors Bobby Deol, Kunal Kapoor, Malaika Arora, fashion designer Gaurav Gupta and cricketer Irfan Pathan, along with Manushi Chillar, Miss World 2017. The participants from different states were mentored by Neha Dhupia, Rakul Preet Singh, Pooja Chopra and Pooja Hegde. Last night, Bollywood stars such as Jacqueline Fernandez, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Kareena Kapoor set the stage on fire with their unforgettable performances.
Anukreethy will represent India at Miss World 2018, while the runners-up will compete at Miss Grand International 2018 and Miss United Continents 2018.
