9 Bollywood Celebs Who Adopted Children And Serve As An Inspiration To All Of Us!

Back in the 90s, adoption was seen as a taboo in the country. Along with it came a flood of controversies, unwarranted questions and a hush-hush silence of sorts. However, despite these shackles that society put on people, some Indian celebs broke free and still adopted kids and gave them a new lease of life.

Young 20-something actors like Sushmita Sen and Raveena Tandon adopted girls and brought them into their lives and homes even after knowing the difficulties of being a single mother. They all fought hard fights, and emerged victorious and successfully welcomed these children. And we love and respect these stars even more for it.

1. Sushmita Sen

When it comes to adopting Sushmita Sen's name is the first to pop up. The proud mommy of two adopted two girls, Renee and Alisah and walked into motherhood at the age of 25.

2. Raveena Tandon

Another diva who broke stereotype was Raveena Tandon who adopted at the young age of 21. She brought two little girls into her life, Chhaya and Pooja, daughters of a distant cousin who was facing financial troubles.

3. Sunny Leone and Daniel Webber

Sunny and her husband Daniel have been advocates of adoption for a while now. They have adopted a baby girl, Nisha and in an interview, Sunny had said, "It’s a responsibility for the rest of our lives. But we have been ready for that — physically, mentally and financially. We were working really hard because we wanted to start a family, and this is the way it’s going to start, so it’s amazing."

4. Subhash Ghai

The Pardes director hasn't been too vocal about the adoption. But his adopted daughter Meghna is actually the daughter of his younger brother but was adopted by Subhash and his wife Rehana years ago.

5. Salim Khan

The youngest of the Khan tribe, Arpita Khan was adopted by Salim Khan. She was raised alongside her four siblings- Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, and Alvira.

6. Nikhil Advani

Nikhil Advani and his wife Suporna adopted Keya in December 2006. She is the apple of his eyes and is very important to him. He is seen taking time off frequently to spend quality time with his daughter.

8. Dibakar Banerjee

The mastermind behind films like Khosla Ka Ghosla, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, and Love Sex Aur Dhokha made us love him, even more, when he adopted Ira with his wife from a Mumbai based orphanage in 2010.
