Our period is a tough nut to crack, I know. Someone should really give us monthly awards for getting through the cramps, the mood swings and the general feeling of being uncomfortable all the time! Most of us even put our sex or masturbation on hold during those seven deadly days. But not anymore! Yes, ladies, you can totally have sex or masturbate during your period. In fact, it will actually help ease the cramps for you. If you’re just getting into it then here are some things you should know before masturbating on your period.
1. Ain’t nothing dirty about period blood
We’ve established this fact plenty of times. Your period blood is not dirty. It’s just your body tissues with a bit of blood. Granted, it looks disgusting but if you just wrap you head around the idea that it’s a natural biological process, you’re good to go.
2. Use lubrication
Yes, you can use lubes while masturbating on your period. However, even period blood is supposed to work as a lube so you might not need one. If you still feel like you need some extra help, feel free to use any water-based lubricant.
3. Wash hands!
This is a very crucial step. Not washing hands before you get down and dirty can lead to infections. So make sure you are all clean, especially if you are using only your hands.
4. If you’re using a sex toy, put a condom on it
Even if you are using a vibrator, it would be ideal to put a condom on it just so you’re not exposing your vagina to any infections. In fact, if you have used the vibrator in other locations it is best to wash it as well before using it again to avoid all kinds of infections.
5. Have tissues handy
To avoid stains on your bedsheet and to clean your hands, have a tissue box handy. Preferably place a towel under you as well because you definitely don’t want to stain your sheets.
