Chandu ke chacha ne, Chandu ki chachi ko, Chandni Chowk mein, chandni raat mein, chandi ki chammach se, chatni chatayi.
And when he wasn't doing this, he was at Chandni Chowk taking his wife shopping. Chandni Chowk has more to it than chaat, chutney and chandu. Thanks to my mom, I got to see this old Delhi area for its paranthe wali gali and wholesale fabric markets. We asked five women about their Chandni Chowk go-to shops. Whether it's to get dress material, a semi-stitched lehenga or a fully-stitched outfit, you can get it all at unbeatable prices. Whether you're the bride or a baraati, work them bargaining skills and head to these shops in Dilli 6 for the ultimate wedding outfit!
When it comes to shopping for a wedding, who doesn't make a trip to Chandni Chowk! All you need is the right shop and good bargaining skills. I bought a sequin material from the cloth market in Chandni Chowk which sells almost all kinds of cloth items at wholesale rates. You could ask any shopkeeper and they will guide you to the place. After a lot of bargaining, I bought a metre long sequin cloth for Rs 500. To my luck, the shopkeeper himself recommended a good tailor who stitched it for a 1,000 bucks. I kept the blouse simple with pretty tie-up doris at the back which I also bought from Chandni Chowk. I paired this blouse with my mom's net saree for a beach wedding in Goa - it was perfect for a summer wedding. - Saachi Bamba, Editorial Coordinator, POPxo

I visited Chandni Chowk two months ago to get a lehenga stitched for my sister's wedding. I purchased a semi-stiched number from this shop called Sabhya Bridal Wears. Their collection is worth every bit of your effort, time and money. And they stitch your outfit according to how YOU want it to be. They have stitched, semi-stitched, all types of lehengas in the latest styles. The prices are negotiable and not very high, I mean, I got mine for just Rs 2,000. Ain't nobody but Chandni Chowk got such chills! - Pamela Kundu, Social Media Coordinator, POPxo

I cannot emphasize this enough, so I'll just say it once again - I LOVE Indian wear. Sarees, lehengas, suits, you name it, I have it. And being a typical Delhi girl, Chandni Chowk has been my go-to place for all my traditional shopping needs. Although I make it a point to look through a lot of outfits at different stores whenever I need to buy one, there are a few stores in Chandni Chowk that I always visit when shopping there. Surya Sarees is one such store that I always, always go to whenever I need a lehenga. I bought a fully stitched lehenga and I didn't have to get any fitting done either. It cost me Rs 22k, but trust me when I say this because I talk with experience, it has one of the best collections of lehengas you'll find in CC. - Manvi Malhotra, Senior Wedding Writer, POPxo

There is a shop in Chandni Chowk called Arun Vastra Bhandar. They import their stuff from Surat in Gujarat. They have all sorts of traditional and western wear for both men and women and in every range - from Rs 1,500 to around Rs 90,000. You can find the best lehenga, simple as well as designer sarees, gowns and kurta-pyjama in your budget. And if you don't want to get lost in the streets of Chandni Chowk, just ask for Arun's shop as you exit from the Chandni Chowk metro station. It's quite a popular shop and people would be glad to guide you! - Deepali Porwal, Junior Hindi Editor, POPxo

I had a big wedding in my family to attend and I'm one of those people who absolutely have to look better than the rest. Being in college at the time, I had a budget constraint which led me to the streets of Chandni Chowk and I remember wondering why I didn't go there before! I had a detailed design in my mind and I went straight to Asian Fabrics, a very renowned dress material shop in Chandni Chowk, to get my dream lehenga skirt made. It cost me around Rs 4,000 plus stitching but the compliments still haven't stopped coming in. - Asmita Sharma
