Are you a skincare enthusiast like me? I'm guilty of owning practically every product there is out there. Serum, toner, essence, moisturizer, gel, lotion, cream, oil... you name it and it'll probably be in my drawer. But what do you do with so many products? I've always been envious of Korean women and their elaborate K-beauty routine, but I'm not one to be consistent and committed like that! I know for a fact that layering skincare products are better than using just one. Did you know that layering your skincare products actually makes them way more effective? This is because one product may not necessarily penetrate through the deeper layers of your skin and provide it with the nourishment it needs. That's where layering comes in. You can do it in the morning and in the night if the time and weather permits!
Keep reading, we'll teach you how to layer your skincare products like a pro!
I think this one's pretty self-explanatory, start with a clean slate. Make sure you cleanse your face with a light but effective cleanser every morning and every night, it's the least you can do for yourself.
Kama Ayurveda Rose and Jasmine Face Cleanser (Rs 750) is a gentle facewash that helps your face glow too.
Use a toner designed to suit your skin type. Apply some onto a cotton pad and wipe your face with it. It'll unclog your pores and tone your skin getting rid of any impurities the cleanser may have missed.
I swear by the Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner (Rs 1,500)
Start with the lightest product you own, that would be a serum or an essence. The lightest products penetrate deepest.
The Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum (Rs 5,900) is one of my all time favourites and I keep going back to it! It's worth every penny!
The benefits of Vitamin C are beyond your imagination. It helps brighten, lighten and protects your skin against sun damage. It promotes healing of blemishes and helps with wrinkles, fine lines and age spots!
The Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution (Rs 4,300) is a potent Vitamin C serum I use daily to tackle blemishes from a bad breakout.
Take a break for 5, go make yourself a cuppa green juice or a green tea. Give the remaining products a little breathing room. When you let products dry well between applications, they won't start pilling into little clumps.
Once you're done layering all the serums and essences, top it off with some moisturiser. It will help lock down all of the stuff you just spent 10 minutes piling on. Depending on your skin type, pick a good moisturiser.
I am in love with the Dr. Sheth's Ultimate Brightening Youth Enhancer (Rs 2,250), it's packed with over 15 actives to fix and repair practically any skin issues you may be having.
Instagram has definitely made me buy a bottle of facial oil worth its weight in gold. You know the fancy ones with the 24k gold flakes. Yep, those... Add a few drops of those and give yourself a little massage. Skip the oil if you have extremely oily skin.
The Indulgeo Essentials Rose Gold Daily Oil (Rs 1,280) has 24K gold flakes that will give you the skin of your dreams.
Use a good sunscreen if you're following this routine during the daytime. Protection is very important if you don't want to end up with those tiny little blemishes caused by sun damage. However, ladies, this is one rule you can apply to other aspects of your life too ;)
