Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik are set to welcome their first born. The good news was announced by the couple on Instagram with a cute post and a hashtag “#BabyMirzaMalik”. Sania and Shoaib have always done things their own way and it was no surprise that they announced the news of them expecting their first child in such a fun and innovative way.
The couple got married eight years ago and have often been quizzed on parenthood. Both are world-class athletes and have always said that they would take the decision when the correct time arrived. In the Goa Fest 2018, Sania openly talked about motherhood and also clarified that her child will have both ‘Mirza and Malik’ as the surname. Speaking in an interview she said, “Today I will tell you a secret. My husband and I have spoken about it and we have decided that whenever we have a child, the child will have Mirza-Malik as a surname and not just Malik. So that’s where we stand as a family including my husband. He actually wants a daughter.”
Previously, Sania was asked about retirement and motherhood on a TV channel and she shut it down by saying, “You sound disappointed that I’m not choosing motherhood over being number one in the world at this point of time.” The marriage of Sania to Shoaib created quite a stir in both neighbouring countries but they have stuck it out together making it the most talked about and revered cross-border love story. The arrival of “#BabyMirzaMalik” will add another glorious chapter to it.
