Let’s be honest, every single one of us fell in love with the Veere Di Wedding trailer and just can’t wait for the film to release on 1st of June. Until then, I took to decode the trailer, breaking it up, one ‘Unsansakaari’ scene at a time. Most of us have dealt with the whole, “girls don’t drink, girls should get married at the right age, women don’t get a divorce” routine. But Veere Di Wedding is breaking those stereotypes, without apologies! Here are all the scenes we spotted in the trailer.
1. Flawed Female Characters
Long gone are the Sati-Savitri days, Bollywood has finally decided to give us relatable and flawed characters who aren’t picture perfect. Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, Shikha Talsania, thank you for that!
2. The Honest Profanities
People swear it’s a given when you’re dealing with a tough life. So why sugar coat the characters who appear on screen? Veere Di Wedding is finally giving us female characters who have a tongue as sharp as their cat eyes.
3. ‘Girl’s Can’t Drink Or Smoke, While Men Can’
In no way do we promote drinking on smoking, but honest female characters who aren’t bound by gender-specific stereotypes are so refreshing. Amen to that!
4. Cannot Even Shaadi RN
Not all women are made for marriage, just like all men aren’t and finally we have a movie that depicts the truth. Some are just happy being in a relationship and don’t need a lawful validation, even if the boy is a hottie like Sumeet Vyas.
5. Casual Sex Is Okay!
People do it and it’s their personal choice, can we just stop judging them? Veere Di Wedding gave us a desi Sex And The City and we’re grateful.
