My sister got married recently, and being her ultimate ‘wingwoman’ I was involved in each phase of her shaadi planning. While we all were very excited about her grand destination wedding in Nashik, it was her mehendi ceremony that was my personal favourite. From arranging a karaoke bar to having an interactive games corner, it sure was a roaring hit among guests. And if you would like to add that extra dash of fun to your Mehendi ceremony, then here are some ideas that’ll have everyone super entertained.
Entertainment is a very important element of a successful mehendi party. You could have a dance jam session or a surprise karaoke contest for your guests. A funny family skit or even good old Antakshari always work. Just make sure that the music never stops!
One great way to entertain your shaadi guests is through interactive games. The activities can range from dumb charades to a giant jenga game. Hide the bride, tug of war and tambola are highly interesting and will also give them a chance to mingle with one another.

Think about hosting that ultimate red carpet awards night for the family! This can be a great way to celebrate the winners of different contests held during the function. It could include quirky titles such as Miss Patakha, Mr Dancing Shoes, Miss Golgappa Queen, so on and so forth...

This is an awesome way to add a bit of quirk into the shaadi celebrations. Think about an upside down cycle backdrop, or better still, a London Photo booth setting. Make sure you create a special wedding hashtag of your own to make it social media friendly.
Now who doesn’t love a good old shaadi buffet? But this time around, give your guests a chance to decide. It could be a DIY chaat of their choice or just a desi version of their favourite cocktail. We mean it, they will thank you forever!

Have a beautifully decorated ‘live’ counter at the mehendi venue. It could include all the lac bangle makers, tattoo and mehendi artists, fortune tellers, palmists and nail artists.
This is a novel idea, and one of my top favourites. Organize an artsy corner where people can paint or write a special message for the couple. You could either arrange it in a pin board format or have them hung by a string. Either way, it’ll make for quite a colourful corner.

Do not ignore the cuties while you are at it. Have a play safe area for kids or a cute puppet show organized for them. Make sure you have a responsible adult look over them at all times.
This need not necessarily be a gulal infused holi party, but a beautiful floral one. It’ll get all your guests along and will make for some great pictures too.
