We celebrated Women's Day on 8th March with all the aplomb it needs. But the thing is that we shouldn't stop celebrating women (or men, for that matter) throughout the year. Since female friendships and relationships constantly get a bad reputation, we need more positive examples of strong female role models lifting each other up. Let's show the world that the strongest support for women can be, and are, women themselves. After all, nobody can understand the struggles of a woman like a fellow female can. Thankfully, we do have some examples in the mainstream media where women stood up for other women and helped them through a thick spot.
At an award function party, Jacqueline had a fashion faux pas moment when her zip came undone. Sonam quickly ran to her best friend's rescue to help her before any damage happened. Talk about besties saving the day.
For a family who bases their fame on living life in front of the camera, it was a huge deal when a whole bunch of women, Kylie's best friends, were able to hide her pregnancy from the camera.
Mahira Khan was slut-shamed collectively by the internet when her pictures of smoking surfaced. Momina Mustehsan quickly jumped to her defence and tweeted in her favour saying "Jesus. Can we please give @TheMahiraKhan a break?! Why are we so quick to judge and attack?! Esp if it's a woman in question. It's her life!"

Katrina Kaif really does seem like a pretty cool friend to have. In an episode of Koffee With Karan with Anushka Sharma, they spoke about their friendship and said "You should see our messages to each other, they're priceless. They usually go like this 'You know babe, you're doing great? I'm really proud of you." "Thanks, babe. Love you too. Bye."
... rather than just her relationship status. When at a show, Meghan Markle was referred to as "Prince Harry's girlfriend", Priyanka Chopra corrected the host and said, "Also, Meghan Markle, actress, Suits, her own achievements." This is the perfect case in point for feminism. Is anyone taking notes?
Francia Raisa, an actress, went on to donate a kidney to Selena when she was fighting the disease, Lupus. This is true sisterhood.
I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made. Swara Bhaskar's open letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali got her a lot of flak from the media and the viewers, but one person who came out strongly in support of Swara was Richa Chadha.
Just like SLB sir had a right to make a film and have it release, and we defended that right irrespective, @ReallySwara has a right to her https://t.co/H8hUFPMuN8 can't coerce,abuse,slut-shame a person over their https://t.co/H8hUFPMuN8 can disagree, don't disparage.✌️

When rumours were rife that there were ego clashes between the female-dominated cast of Veerey Di Wedding, all it took was one Instagram post to shut up the critics.
#Repost @sonamkapoor (@get_repost) ・・・ Dear websites, you can put out as many 'blind items' as you like pitting women against each other, it may get you clicks but it won't be the truth. Must you insist on shoving this tired patriarchal concept of women cat fighting into our film (which is not about a road trip) as if grown, intelligent women have nothing better to do. We will continue to be actual friends and try and make a kick ass movie and prove that women can work with each other, get along and have a blast. Because we can, we are and we will continue to. And on schedule. Please keep in mind how outdated, irresponsible and harmful your narrative is and frustrating for a culture of women who actually want to work together. There is no place for it anymore. Sincerely, The Cast and Crew of Veere Di Wedding (Our items aren't blind) @reallyswara @shikhatalsania @poonamdamania @vdwthefilm @rheakapoor #kareenakapoorkhan #veerediwedding
Katrina-Alia is another set of females who believe in lifting each up other. If you go through their Instagram accounts, you can clearly see how good their chemistry is. Even in a show, they appeared in together, their comfort with each other was apparent and their camaraderie enviable!
When Anshula's step-sisters, Janhvi and Khushi, were trolled on her post, she asked the people doing so to respect her sisters in the most graceful way ever!
Here's more power to female friendships!
