A yesteryears Bollywood actress has filed a rape case against Mumbai-based businessman Aman Khanna. The 68-year-old actress told the Mumbai crime branch that the accused broke into her house and harassed her. After her complaint, the police have arrested Khanna.
The actress went to Juhu police station on Thursday night and the accused was booked under section 376 of IPC. As per the police, the victim had known the businessman but she had cut off all ties with him, leading him to send her lewd messages and stalking her.
In January this year, the actor had lodged a complaint about Khanna for allegedly harassing her. Khanna sent threatening text messages to the actress and the Juhu Police had served him a legal notice.
This is the second assault case that has emerged out of Bollywood today. Another Bollywood veteran Daisy Irani sent shockwaves through the country when she revealed that her guardian sexually assaulted her when she was six years old. Daisy, the maternal aunt of Farhan Akhtar, told an English daily that her guardian violated her in a hotel room when she was shooting a movie, Hum Panchhi Ek Dal Ke, and hit her with a belt. Back then, she didn’t tell her mother about the incident but she says that her family knows everything now.
Daisy has done films such as Bandish and Ek Hi Raasta, and has been fairly known in the industry over the years. She has also been a part of the cult TV show, Dekh Bhai Dekh.
Previously, actresses such as Kalki Koechlin, Richa Chadha, Tisca Chopra and Swara Bhaskar have talked about sexual assault in the industry. The dark truths about the glamour world are coming to light and it’s getting apparent that women everywhere are fighting the same battle.
