1. Cleansing Comes First!

When I head back home from work (or dinner), my first impulse is to take the day off. I wash off my face with a charcoal based facewash. I’m currently using Glamglow GALACTICLEANSE Hydrating Jelly Balm Cleanser (Rs 2000), to take off my foundation and mascara as I wash my face. If there’s any residue left on my face, I use a few drops of Nivea Micellar Water to make sure I’m squeaky clean. I usually just let my skin be for a few hours—I don’t always apply a cream. Before I go to bed, I sometimes alternate between an eye cream; my dermatologist had recommended Glenmark Wunder Eye Advance Cream (Rs 550). I also use Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot Anti-blemish Spot-On Treatment (Rs 990) only when I see it; it’s great for reducing acne scars and blemishes in general. If my skin feels dry, I just spritz rosewater, put my 3G off and go to sleep.

2. Take Off ALL Your Make-up

At the end of the day, I saturate a cotton pad with the Garnier Skin Naturals Micellar Water (Rs 399) and take all of my make-up off. I usually double cleanse with the The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rice Bran All in One Cleanser (Rs 621) and then use the Kama Ayurveda Red Sandalwood Ayurvedic Soap (Rs 525) to wash my face. The soap is a little bit drying but it’s my secret ingredient that fights acne, tanning and dull skin. It’s brightened my skin and almost all my make-up is too dark for me now – that’s how effectively it takes off your tan! I follow it up with a cream recommended by my dermatologist called Ictyane HD (Rs 442). It helps moisturise my extremely dry skin. I add a few drops of the Indulgeo Essentials Rose Gold Oil (Rs 1,280), put on my eye mask and hit snooze!

3. Moisturising Is The Key To Perfect Skin

I am a moisture fiend. The only way I know I will wake up to glowing skin in the morning is if I am well cleansed and supremely moisturised the previous night. I usually cleanse my face with the Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub (Rs 109), which gently exfoliates my skin and takes care of my T-zone. I pat my skin dry and then use VLCC Rose Water Toner (Rs 105) to restore the balance and refresh my skin. Of course serum has made its way to my night time routine so I switch it up in between Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (Rs 2,250) and Avon Anew Essential Super Serum (Rs 1,600) depending on what my skin needs that particular night. I pat that into my skin and wait for about half an hour for it to absorb. During that time I either make myself some tea or drink a big glass of ice water (it is mostly the latter). Once the serum absorbs, I follow up with the Farsali Rose Gold Elixir (Rs 2,277 approx) facial oil. I take my time to massage it fairly well into the skin. I can’t forget my lips, so I slather on a generous helping of Kiehl’s Lip Balm # 1  (Rs 650). I throw in a hydrating sheet mask and lip scrub sesh once in while, but this is the usual routine.

4. Coconut Oil Is Bae

I don’t use make-up on a daily basis so my skincare routine is intrinsic. I clean my face before sleeping and then, I apply Forest Essentials Organic Cold Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil (Rs 795). It nurtures my skin overnight. In the morning, I drink a bottle of water as soon as I wake up, which cleans out the toxins and gives me healthy and hydrated skin.

5. Eat Your Way To Pretty Skin

“My skincare routine has nothing to do with beauty products. Having a light, healthy dinner is what ensures I wake up happy with my skin. The other thing that helps is getting enough sleep. The days I put my phone away by 10, read a book for an hour and pass out by midnight – I wake up feeling so darn good. It also helps me score a few extra minutes in front of my dresser in the morning.”

6. Get Your Beauty Sleep

I don’t have a proper skincare routine as yet, but I do have a couple of simple beauty habits and products that I’m most loyal to. For starters, I go to bed early. By 10 pm, all the lights are off. An hour before sleeping, I drink a bottle of warm water and moisturise my skin using Vaseline’s Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Spray. This lotion spray is the bomb I tell you! It makes my skin feel super smooth and supple. Once I’m done moisturising, I apply just a drop of the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum (Rs 5,900) and massage it all over my neck and face. I occasionally apply a strawberry flavoured Matra Lip Balm (Rs 358) so that my pout stays hydrated and soft all night long.
