As any beauty lover does, I have a rock solid cleanse-tone-moisturise routine in place. I change my cleansers according to the seasons and how my skin is feeling on a particular day and every other day I even indulge in a double cleanse. A couple of months ago, I bought my first facial brush. Yes, I know, I am a little late to the party. But my skepticism kept me from its glory. After a lot of thorough research and understanding, I decided to finally buy into the hype and let me just say I do not regret it one bit. Here are a few reasons why your beauty routine needs a facial cleansing brush!
Before we get into the glorious reasons why you should invest in a facial brush, let’s get the basics out of the way! Cleansing brushes are basically plastic or silicone brushes that either vibrate or rotate to aid cleansing. They usually come with a detachable brush head and some come with different intensity settings. They can be used with your usual cleanser.
A cleansing brush because of its bristles and motion is more effective at cleansing your skin rather than you doing it with your hands. It also removes make-up a little more thoroughly.
It basically scrubs and exfoliates your skin on a regular basis so you have smooth looking and feeling skin with regular usage.
It opens up and cleanses your pores and rids them of the grime thoroughly. Bonus points because it also ensures that the products that you apply after the cleanse go deeper into the skin and give you more benefits.
You start sloughing off dry skin on a daily basis so the pigmentation of your skin visibly reduces and you start noticing a glow.
The electronic motion kick starts the blood circulation process to your face, so after regular use, you will notice your skin getting firmer and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines as well.
The great part about these brushes is that they can be used in the shower as well, but don’t store it in the shower. Store it in a box or in a cabinet where it isn’t covered in water all the time to avoid mildew and the funky smell.
If you are using the brush to cleanse off make-up, make sure you use mild soap or detergent to clean the brush head properly after. A little trick that I like to use is that I clean it in the shower immediately after I am done and then I use a hair dryer to semi-dry the bristles before storing it.
Once you use it, you will want to use it all the time for the way it makes your skin feel. But you need to ease up a little. Use it once a day if you have normal skin. If you have sensitive skin then using it thrice a week would be a better option. I have normal skin so I use it once a day as a part of my night-time routine to take the day off.
Just don’t use it for the week if you have any active breakouts or have a sunburn; generally, avoid use if you have irritated skin because the exfoliation will aggravate the irritation further.
I totally recommend that you add this magician to your skincare routine. Your skin will thank you!
