Style Notes From LFW 2018 That You Need To Bookmark For A Trendy Summer!

We’re halfway through Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2018 and we’ve already discovered a bunch of trends we’re planning to fill our closets with. The past two days have witnessed many showcases, all with different themes, tones and moods. While sitting front row, we were busy scribbling notes that can indicate how our summer style will look like. Here’s a rundown of fresh and alternative approaches you need to know about.

1. Belting Let Loose

A Lakme Fashion Week approved pro styling tip you can definitely opt for this summer is to belt your flowy dresses with loose belts. Designers like Sonal Verma and Dhruv Kapoor showed us this simple yet effective trick to upgrade the regular belted waist look.

For design houses like Hemang Agrawal and Label Ritu Kumar, metallics go beyond being the usual evening glam wear. Agrawal’s precious metal yarns spun in pastel colours and Label’s breathable silhouettes are just the style tips you need for the season.

A major theme among the LFW 2018 showcases that we noticed is the array of prints designers have worked with. Anita Dongre’s jacketed jumpsuits had delicate prints all over (right up till the scarf). And Naushad Ali based his entire collection on the ‘Dot’ – varied dotted garments in different hues and styles.

Wearing long coats in the summer season isn’t ideal, but these LFW designers suggest doing just that! On one hand, Khumanthem x Manipur had us fawning over their soft organic cotton trench coats. On the other, designers of the ‘Usha Silai’ project got models to walk down the runway in the chicest longline jackets.

Our fashion radars are beeping! From midis to maxis, the A-line seems like the headliner for trends in dresses for the season. Maku Textiles presented their white and indigo dipped versions of the style. Designer Padmaja, whose entire collection was a mix of cool greys, whites and ecru, also chose to stick to this simple yet stylish outline for her collection.
