So The Padmaavat Success Party Is Cancelled & We Know The Reason Why

Becoming the only female-led film in the country to enter the Rs 200 crore club, with a total collection of Rs 236 crore at the box office, the Sanjay Leela Bhasali-directed epic, Padmaavat was a roaring success.

Setting aside the highly offended Karni Sena protests, the incessant nose-chopping and suicide threats, the movie has also become Deepika Padukone's most successful film in her decade-long career. And, boy, are we proud!

Yesterday, it was reported that a party was to be scheduled aboard a luxury liner on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s birthday on February 24, to celebrate the success of the film.

The lavish spread was to feature an extensive menu of European, Indian, Italian and pan-Asian cuisine, with over 150 guests invited and scheduled to appear.

But, you know what they say about counting your chickens before they hatch... Basically, you shouldn't.

According to a new report published by the Deccan Chronicle, the proposed celebratory party for the success of Padmaavat now stands cancelled. All plans for the mega event had to be canned when Sanjay dropped a bomb on the surprise party. What was the reason, you ask?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is seasick.

What a bummer, huh?

According to a source, “The Viacom team had planned the party and even sent out invites to VIP guests. But then, when he got to know about it, he regrettably opted out of the big plans pleading seasickness.”

You'd think someone would maybe have the good sense to first ensure, well in advance, that the crew of the film was okay with having a party in the middle of the sea, right? Particularly, the director - the man who brought it all together and made it happen.

Well that's that for Bhansali's massive success (and apparently surprise) party. But, we do think this Twitter user is asking all the real questions right now.

Any excuse to see adorable pictures of Ranveer and Deepika together, really - whether it is on land, or in the middle of the sea!
