Make-Up And Break Up: We Tell You Make-Up Trends To Try & Ones You’ve Got To Dump!

Make-Up And Break Up: We Tell You Make-Up Trends To Try & Ones You’ve Got To Dump!

This story could have been about make-up looks that you could try for dinner with your special someone tonight to celebrate propose day. BUT, we are make-up junkies, and if you’re reading this, I am guessing so are you. So instead, we decided to catch hold of some up-and-coming make-up artists to tell us about the trends and make-up they think will be big this season. Of course, you could also put these tips together and have a brilliant look ready for tonight. So without further ramblings, here’s what they shared…

Face

Matte is out! Make-up artist, Ayesha Seth, proposes you give your matte base a break. “Use a medium to light coverage foundation. I love to use a facial oil like the Farsali Rose Gold Elixir, or the Indulgeo Rose Gold Oil, under the foundation to give a dewy finish to the skin. A few drops are enough to hydrate your skin and this trick can be used for oily skin too.” Less is more seems to be the anthem for the season. Swarangi Ambekar, professional make-up and hair artist and designer, is asking you to step away from that contour palette right now. She thinks a bit of mascara with glossy lip is enough if your skin is luminous and supple. They both suggest you get sheet masks AND look into what you’re putting in your body.

Eyes

Make-up artist and consultant Pooja Mathur, keeping up with the less is more theme, suggests you stick to a classic cat-eye, “there is just something about a sharp wing and a bright lip that can speak volumes.” Swarangi would like to go a step further. She says, just perfectly filled in brows and a coat each of volumising and lengthening mascara could very well be all you’d need! Ayesha understands that sometimes you just need to go glam, “brush a nude shimmer (not glitter) eyeshadow with a hint of peach or pink on the eyelids and use a wine coloured shade in the crease. You don’t even have to be precise. The shimmer will add dimension to your eyes without looking OTT.” Ayesha also suggests that you experiment with false lashes, it is a great way to flip your look around with minimum commitment, “While picking your lashes, make sure they don’t look too synthetic or shine too much. Huda Beauty lashes and the entire Ardell range is something that I would recommend,” she says.

Lips

Put that red lipstick down NOW! All these make-up mavens are asking you to stay away from the red lip, especially for Valentines Day. “Go bright or keep it subtle but definitely add a bit of shimmery gloss at the centre of your lips for the perfect pout. Line the lips first to keep the lipstick from bleeding and fill the lips with the liner before using a matching lip colour,” says Ayesha. Pooja loves to add a nude lip with holographic gloss for an accentuated pout, “Either add the gloss to a nude lip or if you’re feeling a little experimentative, try metallic lips with the gloss for an edgy vibe.” Whatever you do, Swarangi says you need to remember where you are going and why you are dressing up. And when it comes to lips, you need to balance it out. Go soft on the lips when you have a strong eye look and vice-a-versa.
