Heaven knows it’s not an easy task being a woman in the spotlight in this day and age. From the stretch marks on your belly, to the cigarette in your hand, to even the non-sanskaari dress you have on – everything is picked apart by people around you and criticised like it’s their business. And if it isn’t people, we have media outlets writing articles on a woman’s cleavage, and her unwomanly ways, all of which become juicy bait for internet trolls to come rushing in with their opinions.
It’s not all bad, though. There are so many women across the world who know exactly how to shoot the haters down. That for every body-shaming troll on the internet, we have a courageous female role model fighting right back, is victory enough!
Take TV actress Kavita Kaushik, for example. Recently, she put a picture up on her Instagram account where she was seen posing in a bikini and having a wonderful time at the beach. While the picture itself showed the actress at her happiest, it was the caption that had us smiling from ear to ear!
Kavita, who is best known for her portrayal of Chandramukhi Chautala on the sitcom F.I.R., has a bold message for all the women out there who have been ashamed of their bodies and shied away from flaunting their scars, in all their imperfect glory.
“Are we gonna just waste our lives ogling at perfectly shaped models on the Internet and then criticising them? Or are we gonna hit the gym, eat a healthy diet, achieve our best fittest body and embrace all other flaws n be our unique beautiful best and jump into the ocean?”, she asked in the caption, and we’re all here for her powerful words!
Like Kavita so brilliantly put it: nothing should stop you from being the best version of you! So go ahead, ladies, wear those imperfections on your skin proudly, like your battle scars, and don’t you dare let anyone dull your sparkle!
