Dear Girl, Here Is Why There’s Hope Even Though You’re Broken

Dear Girl, Here Is Why There’s Hope Even Though You’re Broken

Dear Broken Girl Reading This,

You know you opened this because you’re down and out and all you want right now is for somebody to tell you that you are not alone. Somebody to give you hope that it’ll all be okay in the end. So here I am, giving you that hope and trying (with this letter) to be the light, albeit faint, at the end of the tunnel.

I’m not here to preach or to give you gyaan that we all know doesn’t work. ‘Let it go’, while easy to say is one of the most difficult things to do. To let go of pain is never easy and we cling on to it for life. A number of things could have put us here – neglect, disrespect, heartbreak or loss. But suddenly, we find ourselves at home in sorrow and despair because they are comfortable places to live in. We always end up seeing happiness as transient, something that may eventually fade away but the pain and the heaviness in our chest will stay with us long after the after-effects of happiness have faded away. So we choose to stick to them instead of making a wise choice of breaking this toxic cycle. It’s almost like an addiction and when did addictions ever serve us? Right?

Listen to what I have to say and listen carefully. I know what it feels like to be broken, to feel like nothing can ever go right anymore or to feel like you’ve lost the game and now nothing can be done. I’ve been through that phase and to say it’s made me stronger will be an understatement. It’s made me a better human being – a kinder, more selfless but a more assertive person. You know what’ll happen? When this phase passes, and it will pass, you’ll be back on your feet within no time. You will take on life and its challenges, you’ll be more careful and mindful of what others are going through and their struggles. You’ll be more humane, more real and more you. And that, love, is the silver lining to this seemingly hopeless situation.

This is not the end. This is only the beginning. Rock bottom really is a wonderful place to be because there is no place to go but up. You might have been stuck at rock bottom for sometime now, that’s okay, because once you come to finally realise your own power and strength, you will rise like a phoenix from the ashes and show the world that nothing and nobody can stop you from reclaiming what is rightfully yours.

So, enjoy this period. It’ll come with a lot of lessons you would have never learned otherwise – about love, about life and about other people. Then why wouldn’t you be thankful for this phase of life? You grow through what you go through and happiness and success don’t help you learn as much as sorrow and failure do.

Live it, love it and truly, from the bottom of your heart, believe that better days are to come… because they are.
