The Good, The Bad, And The WTF... We Present Bollywood Fashion Awards For February 2018

The Good, The Bad, And The WTF... We Present Bollywood Fashion Awards For February 2018

It might be just the fashion obsessed onlooker in me, but I can’t help it. I can’t help watching a movie or even passing a girl by, without scanning her outfit at lightning speed (hidden talent). For instance, one of my favourite things to do during a girls’ night in is to huddle up and scroll Instagram’s fashion feeds for celebrity outfits that leave us ‘shook’.

Not your average superpower, is it? As you might have heard, all superheroes don’t wear capes. In this case, they pass judgements on capes. And sarees. And jumpsuits. Basically, whatever sartorial creation is in my line of sight. What’s better than Bollywood to put this incredible skill to use? Thanks to Instagram, celebrity style is an endless, virtual fashion show. I’ve decided to play the eager-to-pounce front row critic, of course.

So, sit back with a tub of popcorn, because it’s awards day here at POPxo and you’re invited to watch. Scroll on to find out the titles that went out to some of Bollywood’s bright ‘n shiny faces.

1. Miss Keep Calm And Colour Block

Taimur’s breathtaking mum pulled out the big guns this month. While I loved the begum’s Swarovski encrusted lehengas, this black, pink and red colour-blocked saree steals the show. I’m glad you graduated the class of ‘Poo’ and her metallic knee-slit bell bottoms. Well done, Bebo!

2. Miss Bathroom Tiles

I’m serious! If you close in on the print of Bollywood celebrity Soha Ali Khan’s strapless gown, you will know what I’m talking about. I have the same bathroom tiles in my house and I’ve seen plenty of bathrooms with the same. This is a downright party pooper, pun intended. Why, Soha, why?

3. Miss Boss Woman

‘And the award goes to….’ Ladies, and ladies, Miss Sonakshi Sinha has finally arrived. Her on-point pant-suit obsession is taking Bollywood by fire, and I’m feeling the heat. Full points to this #GirlBoss for giving us a highly covetable look in a high street label outfit. Yes, this is Zara!

4. Miss ‘WTF?!’

Adah Sharma is the rightful owner of this less-than-perfect award title. I don’t know where to start. The plunging lace-up neck, the (tackiest) thigh-high lace-up peep-toe boots. Or the fake unicorn hair. All those, I repeat ALL those things are out of fashion. Put together, it’s beyond OTT.

5. Miss ‘Everything’

You deserve this award, and how, Khushi! Yes, peeps, Khushi Kapoor had a dazzling lehenga moment this month. An organza shirt spilling out of an embellished bustier? What sorcery! I’m thinking of ways to replicate it without being an alleged outfit thief.

6. Miss ‘Wardrobe Malfunction Waiting To Happen’

Taapsee, sweetie, you were doing so gooooood. I can’t say I’m not mad. Where did this handkerchief of a dress crawl out of? I mean, come on! This is short enough to be a regular top. Fail, fail, fail.

7. Miss ‘Saree Not Sorry’

A post shared by Sanjana Batra (@sanjanabatra) on

If there’s ever been a contender for the ‘Saree Queen’, it’s Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. And I know y’all agree. This mauve look is half saree, half monokini. It’s got a fur border. It’s got fringe detailing. It’s got Pantone’s Colour of the Year. Need we say more?

8. Miss ‘Frumpy Frock’

While I love Kangana’s makeup here, I’m NOT a fan of her outfit. Why would you ruin an exquisitely tailored dress with a silhouette-less net frock?! The answer is, you don’t. Teacher’s note on Kangana’s report card: Can do better!

9. Miss ‘Avant-Garde

If you think Anushka’s black and white outfit is basic, you could not be more wrong. The offbeat, embroidered white shirt is a must-have for every closet ever, and the flared bottoms are love. Yay, Anushka!

10. Miss ‘Overwhelming Melting Pot

I know melting pots are delicious. All bar this one. Neha Dhupia’s printed outfit is an example of how floral prints can go very, very wrong. Plus, the matching piping on the cape is giving me the shivers. In short, I can’t even. Congratulations on the award!

And this is where I do the mic drop and step AFK. Watch this space for the March edition of our fashion awards next month!
