Forget 2 States, This Blogger Bride’s #NorthMeetsSouth Wedding Is Goals!

It isn’t every day that we come across a love story that is as heart touching as this – two people who didn’t even believe in long distance relationships battled the odds, made their overseas relationship not just work, but flourish into this beautiful love story that you’re just about to read. Plixxo Super Blogger Shreya Kalra of For The Love Of Fashion And Other Things just got hitched to the love of her life Nikhil, and we’re loving all the pictures from her wedding and pre-wedding functions held at Tivoli Garden Resort, Chattarpur. Here are all the cutesy details and photos from their wedding, shot by FotoWalle. Let’s hear it from Shreya

How it all started

“When I left Bangalore in 2012, I knew I had left a piece of me behind. The foundation of every great relationship is friendship and it couldn’t be truer for us. We kicked off this relationship as friends which later went on to progress into love and to the extent that we had Mr Non-Believer of long distance relationships here (Nikhil), working it across seven seas with me. From mindless banter to debating together in law school, our relationship literally spans across from being absolute goofballs to discussing our favourite books and music. When it comes to the kind of people we are, polar opposites would adequately sum it up and that definitely works for us. I feel quite chuffed about having increased his romance quotient while I also take pride in how he makes me see the practical and worldly wise side to everything. We are also on two sides of the horizon as far as our careers go. I’m a full-time fashion blogger and writer (an erstwhile lawyer) and he is a Senior Legal Counsel at DSM Sinochem Pharmaceuticals, Netherlands.”

Well, the famous words ‘opposites attract’ have never held more meaning!

The dreamy wedding and how they pulled it off!

“Our wedding was everything we could have dreamt of from the time we actually began dating. All we really wanted was to have our friends and family together having a great time, dancing and enjoying the best kind of hospitality. Most importantly, we wanted to be amongst them and not sitting in a secluded corner as Indian weddings tend to do. The entire span of two weeks interspersed with all the parties across North and the South (that’s how our functions were too, the wedding was Punjabi and the reception was South Indian) were full of equally special moments. The photographers had the hardest time finding us not laughing (a little too hard) at almost every moment and the pictures reflect that.”

“I wanted the decor to be fun and chic but most importantly not over the top and the decor team at Tivoli did just that for me. Our sangeet and cocktails were largely in a yellow and hot pink theme, including a wooden bar in yellow and pink, with the largest emphasis on marigold floral arrangements. The highlight of the wedding was that it was between these vintage trains that were decorated with fairy lights and I especially love the floral wall that we got ourselves on the stage with chandeliers on each side that lent it the perfect look.”

“I had the toughest time finding a wedding lehenga because I was very clear in my head as to how I did NOT want it to look. That made it easier to eliminate. I did not want to wear anything too traditional or overbearing or far detached from my personality. So, when I finally saw a version of this Payal Singhal lehenga which I eventually got customised, it was love at first sight. I did not want to do a traditional two dupatta look cause it would cover the interesting details of the lehenga.”

“The jewellery and the make-up by Sakshi Malik was again a mish-mash of traditional and modern with the navratan choker and the elaborate mathapatti. My wedding jewellery was from RK Jewellers, who did the perfect navratan set for me. The mathapatti was by Raabta and my sangeet kundan and ruby earrings were from my family jewellers. The floral jewellery was designed by Anoo Flower Jewellery.
