#StyleList: The 2018 Golden Globe Awards And The Power Of Black

A lot has happened at 75th Golden Globe Awards and it was a red carpet worth looking forward. While all the drama and style was in place, the 2018 global ceremony was highly foreseen in a different way, as the Hollywood actresses decided to wear all black look to protest against sexual harassment and gender inequity, making the global platform a part of Time’s Up campaign. Amongst many names who participated in this fashion blackout, some are Kelly Clarkson, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, Chrissy Metz, Jessica Chastain, Debra Messing, Eva Longoria, Reese Witherspoon and Claire Foy. Not just women but men including Chris Hemsworth showed their solidarity, too. Well, this does set a determined tone for the red carpets to come as Eva Longoria clarified, “This is not a moment, this is a movement. And tonight is just one small part of that.”

Golden Globes was all about ‘anything can happen’ and let’s not forget the first black woman to receive Cecil B. de Mille award Oprah Winfrey’s empowering words from the ceremony, “I want all of the girls watching here now to know, that a new day is on the horizon.” Debra Messing, in fact, said on E! that she was sad to hear that E! doesn’t pay their female co-hosts the same as their male co-hosts.

On the whole, it was a gun blazing award show and here’s what your fave celebs wore to the 2018 Golden Globes that actually made us look twice because once is never enough.
