Get Ready With Me: Our Beauty Editor Reveals Her Winter Beauty Regime

We’re in the peak of winters and that means, it’s probably best you tweak your skincare and make-up routine. While you may want to take an extra step (or two) for your skin, winter is a great time for make-up. For instance, I can layer on make-up without thinking twice. My liquid foundation doesn’t melt and I don’t necessarily have to wear matte lipsticks. Here’s my updated skincare and makeup routine perfect for the colder months!

1

Add Bath Oil To Your Water.

These days I try to step into the shower with time to spare for a body massage. I make sure I give a little extra attention to my arms, elbows, neck and feet. If I’m running late or feeling a bit achy, I add a few drops of Rose Jasmine Bath and Body Oil (Rs 850).

Use Coconut Oil To Shave Your Legs

I stopped waxing a few years ago—I find shaving to be easier and I definitely don’t miss the taxing salon appointments. Using coconut oil can be a pain in summers but in winters, I get a close shave and super soft, smooth legs. Plus the oil lubricates the blade so there are a lot less cuts and razor burns! You can try Auravedic Pure Virgin Coconut Oil (Rs 150).

Tone and Treat Your Skin

Two years ago, I felt my pores were getting bigger and I have been applying the Thayer’s Witchhazel Toner ever since. While in summers, I use a toner at least twice a day, I splash it all over my face and neck before applying anything on my face. Taking a pint-sized amount of eye cream on my ring finger, I apply it while the toner is sinking into my skin. If I have a pimple mark or a dark spot on my face, I apply La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+ Corrective Unclogging Care Anti-Imperfections or Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot (Rs 1,100).

K-Beauty: Add An Essence To The Mix

I love K-Beauty, my team loves K-Beauty. But I’m not half as hardworking as an average Korean girl. I’ve added The Face Shop White Seed Brightening Lotion as an essence in my skincare routine. This one has White Lupin seeds and daisy flower extracts that help brighten your skin (this is no way is a fairness cream!). You can layer it up with a face cream if need be. I use a primer and get onto my base.

Correct And Conceal Your Face

Since it’s colder, I can actually layer make-up. Once I prime my face, I use Maybelline Fit Me Matte+ Poreless Foundation using a beauty blender or BS Mall Foundation Brush. Then I use the purple shade from L’Oreal Paris Cosmetics Infallible Total Cover Color Correcting Kit and blend it under my eyes. I dab a bit of the green corrector on any red spots that are on my face followed by a swipe of concealer. Unlike summers wherein I use a matte formula, I use Deborah Milano Dress Me Perfect Liquid Concealer. I use an angled brush to swipe the bronzer from Wet n Wild MegaGlo Contouring Palette and I use the highlighter on my brow bone using my little finger. I finish with a swipe of M.A.C Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation.

Make Most Of Micellar Water

A favourite amongst French women, micellar water helps them nail their je ne sais quoi. Loaded with the goodness of water of thermal springs, it’s great to hydrate your skin. I use it to take off every bit of make-up and apply it before I go to bed too. On my recent trip to Switzerland, I bought Nivea Daily Essentials Sensitive 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water but I’ve heard great things about Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover.
